After experiencing several months of housing instability, including couch surfing, she has finally found an apartment in Riverside. Without access to a car, she relies entirely on public transportation to get to both work and school. Her daily routine is incredibly demanding, one of her children has special needs, and with her kids attending two different schools, mornings are especially challenging. Community members have even witnessed her running between drop-offs and bus stops, trying her best to make it to work on time. Despite her resilience and dedication, the family is in need of essential household items, even if they're used. They do not have a refrigerator or beds, and a TV would be a meaningful comfort for the children during this transitional time.

The referred family is requesting assistance with gift cards. The family has a current investigation open. The father left the three children with their adult 22 years old brother. The adult brother lives with his girlfriend. The father left the children to go on a drug binge and has not contacted the family for months. Additionally, the family/children cannot receive DPSS benefits until 7/25/2025 as the father is claiming the benefits for the children and not giving the funds to the brother to care for the children. The older brother currently works night shifts at Smart and Final to support the family. The older brother feels overwhelmed and is having difficulty making ends meet. The family can benefit with gift cards to purchase clothing and food items. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home.

This family has had a tough financial situation because mom is currently on leave from work with no income. Consequently, the family is behind on rent and utilities.

Hello, We have a local Ada family that is needing a kid's table for their home. Our kinship took in our three young children with no prior warning and have risen to the occasion. They have worked really hard on their home to clear out a room for the kids to stay in and have been motivated to help our children. They have been totally cooperative with OHS and are making a positive impact in these children's lives. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

A provider has recently taken in a new born child who was already tight on money before the baby was placed in their care. The provider has a family of 6 in the home the provider has already spent a lot of money getting everything ready for the child to include clothes, formula, diapers, etc. Due to the provider getting everything for the baby the provider is now in need of food for the home. The provider is asking for a $250 walmart gift card to be able to help with putting food in the home. The provider is thankful for any help that is received.

Hello. Lighthouse Church has been assisting a family of 5 who was homeless after losing their housing which was already temporary. The family member that was hosting them was unable to continue providing them space in her home. Lighthouse has covered the cost for the family to stay in a hotel this week and helped to secure stable housing. The family was approved for an apartment! The family is from Honduras, mom, dad, and three kids ages 17, 12, and 9. Their 17 year old daughter needs a kidney transplant, please pray for her. The apartment is on the west side of Madison. The maternal aunt has stepped in as an out-of-home safety monitor for her teenage nephew, providing him with a safe and stable environment while the family works through ongoing challenges. Unfortunately, the aunt’s food stamp benefits were recently hacked, leaving her without critical resources to feed her household. She is doing her best to provide for the teen and maintain stability, but with limited income and no access to her food benefits for the rest of the month, she is struggling to meet their basic needs. We are asking for support in providing assistance for their utility bill this month. Even the smallest amount helps!

A single mom unexpectedly lost her job causing her to be unable to pay her rent for the month of May placing her and her high school age child and child who is a young adult at risk for homelessness. She has already found a new job and is motivated to get back on her feet. Would you be willing to show this mom a little kindness? She would appreciate any help that can be provided to help keep her family in their home.

A young family from Afghanistan arrived in Holland a few months ago and is in need of support. While the dad speaks a few phrases in English, they primarily speak Pashto and have 4 children (plus one more on the way due in August). Their 10 year old son is currently enrolled at an elementary school on the northside of Holland. The younger siblings are a 5 year old boy and two girls aged 4 and 6 months. The father worked for the US Military in Afghanistan for 15 years before coming to Lansing with his family in 2021. He worked in a car factory in Lansing, but decided to come to Holland to be closer to friends when his family lost housing. The father is still searching for local employment, but is able to drive his own small car. They have borrowed funds for rent the past few months, but are running out of options. Any help would be a gift as we search for more sustainable income for their family!

Movement West Michigan has been made aware of the needs of this family and are working with multiple local agencies and churches to coordinate immediate support as they work toward long-term stability.
