Story
A very sweet 10-year-old girl entered DHS custody in April. She is autistic and has limited communication. She can say a few words, knows specific words in American Sign Language, and mostly uses gestures to communicate. Despite her limited communication, she is very smart, very creative, and loves to interact with people. She has been in the hospital for over a month and will be entering her first placement outside the hospital soon. She has been borrowing an iPad from the hospital during her stay and has been learning to use a specific program on the iPad to communicate. Currently this child does not have a iPad of her own, and there isn't one available to her at the new placement. Being able to get a new iPad would make it so this very sweet girl would be able to continue making progress in her ability to communicate with the people around her.
