CASA has had a case for three years that opened due to abuse and neglect. The current 2-year-old was severely injured as a baby by the parents, which required months of hospitalization and led to the kids being re-removed. The two CASA advocates bring all of the children together (they are in three different foster placements) and spend their own money on fast food to feed the children, as mom is not providing any food during family visits. CASA is requesting a variety of fast food gift cards (could be to Chick fil A, McDonald's, Burger King, etc.) to help with this expense. Thank you!

Currently staying with relatives temporarily, she is actively working with CARES to secure affordable housing and has been connected to housing assistance. She hopes to return to part-time work and enroll her daughter in daycare. To support this transition, the mother is requesting new clothing and shoes for her daughter, including shirts and shorts (size 7/8), tennis shoes or sandals (size 12–1), and hair ties. The child especially enjoys Bluey, Minecraft, Roblox, and anything princess-themed, with favorite colors being pink and purple—though the mother noted that anything in any color would be appreciated. Providing these items would not only help her daughter feel confident and prepared to start daycare but also ease financial pressure, allowing the mother to focus her limited resources on securing housing and transportation.

When hardship hits, we turn to our church family. A dedicated single mom of 4, who also cares for a young adult who has aged out of the foster care system, needs our help. She works full-time as a home health aide driving up to 70 miles a day to care for her clients, part of what she does is taking them to appointments, and picking up prescriptions and groceries. She also drives her kids to school daily. One afternoon, after school pickup, she was hit by a driver who fled the scene. Thankfully, she and the kids were unharmed, but her car was badly damaged and had to be towed. With no backup vehicle, she’s rented a car for 3 weeks to keep working and caring for her family but she can’t afford to keep renting a car. To keep insurance affordable, she has a high deductible. She’s saved $600 but still needs $1,400 to get her car out of the body shop this week. The body shop won’t accept payments, and the charities she contacted don’t cover this type of need. 127 Place received a request from a member of a local church for a mom with three pre-school-age kids who are living in a motel. This family is from out-of-town looking for safety and a new life. They have no family support. They were just approved for an apartment with a move-in date of June 1, but they need help with deposits.

Mom started a job recently and has raised about half of the deposits. 127 Place is committing $500, but that leaves about $400 still needed for the deposits.

The couple have been here from Venezuela for about 2.5 years and help out at Centro Cristiano a Las Naciones with leading music. They moved from an apartment which had a washer and dryer and now they need to provide for their own. The father is looking for work and does odd jobs to help pay for rent, bills, food, clothing, etc. A washer and dryer will help mom take care of her kids so that they will be able to attend school and help their hygiene.
