Story
This request is on behalf of a devoted mother of three who is in urgent need of support. Her oldest daughter, age 25, lives with multiple complex medical diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, and epilepsy. She is non-ambulatory, uses a wheelchair, and requires round-the-clock care as well as multiple weekly medical appointments in Columbia—over an hour away. The mother also has two younger children, ages 12 and 16, who are active in school and extracurricular activities.
Since her husband passed away from lung cancer in 2017, this mother has consistently and lovingly provided for her family. However, with the rising cost of living and the added demands of caregiving, her grocery budget has become increasingly strained. For the first time, she is struggling to keep nutritious food on the table.
This is a short-term setback—not a pattern. Providing food assistance would immediately relieve pressure, ensure her children and medically fragile daughter are nourished, and remind this resilient mom that her community sees and supports her.
