We are requesting support in the form of a Walmart gift card for a 16-year-old youth who is transitioning from a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) to a resource home. This youth has not resided in a family-based setting since 2023, and this move represents a significant and positive change in her life.

To help ensure her well-being and support a smooth transition, we are seeking a Walmart gift card that would allow her to purchase personal items of her choice. This will not only help her feel more comfortable and prepared in her new home environment, but also allow her to pick out clothing and essentials to get ready for the summer season.

Providing her with the opportunity to make her own selections will help empower her during this time of change and support her sense of independence and dignity.

A Teller County teenager needs help returning to the safety of her biological father in Tennessee. This unshakeable 17-year old came out to Colorado last summer, intending to reunite with her biological mother. The mother encouraged this, but unfortunately, the reunification took a sour turn. This young woman ended up living in a home without electricity and no access to a bathroom. When she was able to seek refuge with a family friend, her things were discarded with trash and animal feces, making them unsalvageable. Her father is struggling with health issues and unable to make the trip from Tennessee to pick her up, but mercifully, the family friend is willing to drive the teenager out next week. This is where help from our community comes in- the friend's heart is willing but their bank is empty. The Department is respectfully asking for assistance with gas money to ensure that this young woman is able to return to her father, which is in the best interest of her health and safety. It is estimated that this will cost approximately $200, which we can happily accept through gift cards or cash donations. Thank you so much for considering this request, dear community

I am working with a young mother who is in need of some support. She is currently enrolled in a continuation program and is on track to graduate next year. At this time, she is in need of a crib mattress and crib sheets for her baby. DCFS has not yet begun providing financial assistance, and the client remains on maternity leave without current employment. Meeting this need would help ease her stress and provide one less thing for her to worry about during this transitional period.

Options for Women, Help for Families has a couple working on reunification with their child. They have both completed our DFS parenting classes and enrolled in our regular parenting classes now. They get weekend visits with their 6month old daughter. They were able to save the money for an apartment, deposit and utilities but encountered car repairs and depleted the rest of their funds that were to be used to purchase a stove and refrigerator. They are in great need for an electric stove and a refrigerator. They would be very appreciative if anyone has used ones they would like to donate. Thank you for your consideration. Dear Team Sherry, this is our final update! Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy are packing and preparing for the big move at the end of June. Kaya and Kennedy will move into their grandfather’s home in Yorba Linda and commute to Saddleback College. Kennedy graduated high school, got her permit, and will have her license soon. Kaya is carefully planning her transfer to Fullerton College in another year. Cameron remains in New York and is doing well. Sherry will be moving to Nevada to live with a longtime friend. It’s an emotional shift after many years living together, but this past year has been a gift. Thanks to your support, Sherry provided a stable home, helped Cameron begin a new path, supported Kaya’s growth, and celebrated Kennedy’s graduation all in their family home. While the family will no longer live together, they’re ending this chapter with something meaningful: Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy will all serve as volunteers at Royal Family Kids Camp in late June. It’s a full-circle moment, as giving back to other foster families has always been a passion of theirs. The client is seeking assistance with her South Central Power bill, which is scheduled for disconnection on June 3, 2025, due to a past-due balance of $349.60. She is able to contribute $100 toward the amount owed.

The client recently experienced significant hardship, including a divorce followed by a car accident that was not her fault. As a result, she was temporarily unable to work and fell behind on her bills. She has since returned to full-time employment and now has a sustainable income.

Given her current circumstances and demonstrated effort toward self-sufficiency, she has been referred to InterFaith for possible assistance.

There are 7 people living in the home and only 1 person is able to work. The others are kids or adults on disability/recovering addicts. They have reached out to other programs but are not able to receive help at the moment. Anything can help.

There is a Neighbor's Ministry Mom that we have been working with for awhile that is in need of groceries. She experienced the unexpected loss of a child and has been dealing with a huge amount of grief which has been paralyzing at times. She is having trouble with her food stamp benefits and with her daughter out of school now for the summer, is in need of groceries to give them a strong start to the summer while she sorts out her food benefits. I have all of the items in an online cart for Aldi. If someone is interested in sponsoring them, I am happy to pick it up and deliver. Or if you would like to pick up and deliver just let me know :)
