I am submitting this request on behalf of a mother who is currently experiencing financial hardship and is in need of immediate support. She is actively engaged in services and making positive progress; however, she has fallen behind on her rent and is now at risk of housing instability. Her rent, in the amount of $875, was due on May 16, 2025, and she is currently unable to make the full payment on her own. Any financial assistance toward this amount would be tremendously helpful in allowing her to remain housed, maintain stability, and continue engaging in the services that support both her and her child’s well-being.If this need is met, it will prevent potential eviction and help ensure a stable living environment for this mother and her child. Housing security will allow her to focus on continued progress in her case plan, parenting, and mental health goals. Caseworker is requesting assistance to help support a newly single mother trying to gain financial independence and support her two children (ages 8 and 3). Mother is the primary caregiver for the children and is now in a situation where the family income source is no longer available. Mother works very hard, but is still struggling to get the necessities that are needed when raising two growing girls. A $200 gift card to Walmart and a $50 gas card would help mother during an already emotional stressful situation and allow her to get ahead in what is crucially needed!

DHS is involved with this family due to DV between Mom and BF. Dad has stepped up to help his daughters (12,15) and meets with them on different occasions throughout the week. Dad is disabled and doing the best he can. We are asking for help with food, a Walmart giftcard would be great. A single mother of three is facing a difficult season. Despite living with a disability that prevents her from working right now, she is taking classes to earn an LVN license at a local university, taking a bold step toward a better future for her family. But the road ahead is still steep. She’s currently working with a lawyer to extend her workers' compensation so she can receive a surgery on her spine that she urgently needs. In the meantime, she’s struggling to keep up with her car payments which are her only means of transportation to medical appointments, and her children’s activities. Amid these challenges, there is light: her daughter recently made the beautiful decision to accept Christ and be baptized at our Lake Forest campus, a moment of joy and hope for the entire family. We are requesting support in the form of a Walmart gift card for a 16-year-old youth who is transitioning from a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) to a resource home. This youth has not resided in a family-based setting since 2023, and this move represents a significant and positive change in her life.

To help ensure her well-being and support a smooth transition, we are seeking a Walmart gift card that would allow her to purchase personal items of her choice. This will not only help her feel more comfortable and prepared in her new home environment, but also allow her to pick out clothing and essentials to get ready for the summer season.

A Teller County teenager needs help returning to the safety of her biological father in Tennessee. This unshakeable 17-year old came out to Colorado last summer, intending to reunite with her biological mother. The mother encouraged this, but unfortunately, the reunification took a sour turn. This young woman ended up living in a home without electricity and no access to a bathroom. When she was able to seek refuge with a family friend, her things were discarded with trash and animal feces, making them unsalvageable. Her father is struggling with health issues and unable to make the trip from Tennessee to pick her up, but mercifully, the family friend is willing to drive the teenager out next week. This is where help from our community comes in- the friend's heart is willing but their bank is empty. The Department is respectfully asking for assistance with gas money to ensure that this young woman is able to return to her father, which is in the best interest of her health and safety. It is estimated that this will cost approximately $200, which we can happily accept through gift cards or cash donations. Thank you so much for considering this request, dear community

Dear Team Sherry, this is our final update! Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy are packing and preparing for the big move at the end of June. Kaya and Kennedy will move into their grandfather’s home in Yorba Linda and commute to Saddleback College. Kennedy graduated high school, got her permit, and will have her license soon. Kaya is carefully planning her transfer to Fullerton College in another year. Cameron remains in New York and is doing well. Sherry will be moving to Nevada to live with a longtime friend. It’s an emotional shift after many years living together, but this past year has been a gift. Thanks to your support, Sherry provided a stable home, helped Cameron begin a new path, supported Kaya’s growth, and celebrated Kennedy’s graduation all in their family home. While the family will no longer live together, they’re ending this chapter with something meaningful: Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy will all serve as volunteers at Royal Family Kids Camp in late June. It’s a full-circle moment, as giving back to other foster families has always been a passion of theirs. Sherry says this year has been nothing short of a gift from God and that your generosity and prayers was the conduit of that blessing. The client is seeking assistance with her South Central Power bill, which is scheduled for disconnection on June 3, 2025, due to a past-due balance of $349.60. She is able to contribute $100 toward the amount owed.
