A domestic violence survivor of twin 2 1/2 year old's with epilepsy needs a little help. Mom has worked hard to get in a better situation. They are getting there but mom was hoping to get a double stroller. She wants to be able to walk with her kids. The double stroller they had was old and became unsafe. Any help would be appreciated.

A young, non-relative caregiver has taken in a teenager who is in need of some support to stabilize the placement. The child is not in foster care and this placement remains a stable and safe place for the child to reside. The caregiver is young and on a fixed income while waiting on legal custody arrangement to be made through the courts. While waiting to file for the appropriate benefits and financial support for the child, the caregiver and child would greatly benefit from a little food and clothing to offset some costs. The child is a size medium in both shirt and pants. Any support that can be provided to this kind caregiver and teenage child would be immensely helpful in the stabilization of a kinship placement and the ongoing success of the family unit. These clients came to us when they first found out that they were expecting their first child. They both participated in our parenting program. They are now expecting their second child. They have purchased brake pads for their car but need them put on.

The family is composed of a mother and child (11mo). The mother was living with the father but due to a recent domestic violence incident, the mother relocated to the maternal grandfather’s home. The mother is currently unemployed and relying on government assistance as a source of income.

The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the mother. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the mother cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

A single mother of three is facing a difficult season. Despite living with a disability that prevents her from working right now, she is taking classes to earn an LVN license at a local university, taking a bold step toward a better future for her family. But the road ahead is still steep. She’s currently working with a lawyer to extend her workers' compensation so she can receive a surgery on her spine that she urgently needs. In the meantime, she’s struggling to keep up with her car payments which are her only means of transportation to medical appointments, and her children’s activities. Amid these challenges, there is light: her daughter recently made the beautiful decision to accept Christ and be baptized at our Lake Forest campus, a moment of joy and hope for the entire family. Dear Team Sherry, this is our final update! Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy are packing and preparing for the big move at the end of June. Kaya and Kennedy will move into their grandfather’s home in Yorba Linda and commute to Saddleback College. Kennedy graduated high school, got her permit, and will have her license soon. Kaya is carefully planning her transfer to Fullerton College in another year. Cameron remains in New York and is doing well. Sherry will be moving to Nevada to live with a longtime friend. It’s an emotional shift after many years living together, but this past year has been a gift. Thanks to your support, Sherry provided a stable home, helped Cameron begin a new path, supported Kaya’s growth, and celebrated Kennedy’s graduation all in their family home. While the family will no longer live together, they’re ending this chapter with something meaningful: Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy will all serve as volunteers at Royal Family Kids Camp in late June. It’s a full-circle moment, as giving back to other foster families has always been a passion of theirs. The client is seeking assistance with her South Central Power bill, which is scheduled for disconnection on June 3, 2025, due to a past-due balance of $349.60. She is able to contribute $100 toward the amount owed.

The client recently experienced significant hardship, including a divorce followed by a car accident that was not her fault. As a result, she was temporarily unable to work and fell behind on her bills. She has since returned to full-time employment and now has a sustainable income.

Given her current circumstances and demonstrated effort toward self-sufficiency, she has been referred to InterFaith for possible assistance.
