I'm reaching out on behalf of a family of three—soon to be four, as the mother is expecting in just a few weeks—who are in urgent need of support. The family is currently without a functioning refrigerator, making it extremely difficult to store fresh food and maintain a safe, healthy environment, especially during the warmer months. Their current refrigerator no longer seals properly, and the freezer intermittently thaws, causing food to spoil. This issue is especially concerning for the mother, who is now on maternity leave and preparing to breastfeed. She hopes to freeze breast milk for her newborn but is understandably worried that unreliable freezer conditions may cause it to spoil. The father is working diligently to keep the household afloat, but they are unable to afford a new appliance at this time. I have a single mother of three, with one on the way. About two months ago, she had to end her relationship with her children's father due to on-going domestic disputes with threats of violence. Now she is having difficulty paying her rent. She is trying to work with her landlord to allow her to pay the amount when she gets paid on Friday the 13th but he said he cannot wait that long. The Longview Housing Authority waitlist is currently closed, her transportation is not that reliable, and moving to another city would be traumatic for her children at this time. Her landlord is threatening to evict her and the kids if she does not pay the rent.

While this is a positive step forward for their family, it has also placed a significant financial strain on them. Mom with 2 children, ages 5 and 13 is having financial difficulty due to being out of work and food stamp scam. She has been in training for a job at a new Sheetz near her home, but employment has been delayed due to delay of the opening. She does have cleaning jobs on the side, but this doesn't provide a lot of income. She lost $975 in food stamps due to a recent scam. Her critical need at this time is for her electric bill to be paid to prevent disconnection. She needs $1395 to pay in full.

A brave mom in our church community has endured years of physical and emotional abuse. Just four days after undergoing a double mastectomy for breast cancer, her husband threatened her with a weapon. She fled for her safety, obtained a restraining order and filed for divorce. They share two daughters, ages 9 and 3. Her husband is now seeking full custody of their daughters and he’s spreading false claims to their 9 year-old that her mom doesn’t want to see her. This has caused deep emotional trauma for their daughter. While the court has ordered joint custody for now, mother and the 9 year old daughter are in reunification counseling, which costs $1,000 a month paid by the mom alone. The father, who is on disability for severe mental illness, lives with his parents, who are covering his legal fees. He pays no child support or alimony. Meanwhile, the mom is also on disability during cancer treatment and receives just 30% of her salary. She’s facing mounting legal fees in her fight to protect and reunite with her daughters. She is currently $1,100 short on rent due to a recent attorney payment. She needs urgent financial support to cover her rent. This young man is a junior in high school. The student lives between his parents house and grandparents house. His grandmother has been experiencing some health challenges since that end of last year and this has taken a noticeable on this young man. The added cost of medical expenses for grandmother has left nothing to go towards extra curricular activities. As a result the student has begun to sell snack items at school to help support himself. This young man would benefit greatly by attending summer camp and be encouraged in his pursuit of high school graduation. This opportunity would be a light at the end of a very dark for this young man and serve as a reminder that hard work pays off not just in the future but now.

This request is on behalf of a 17 year old high school student. This student is the oldest of 4 siblings and currently lives with their mother and father. The mother is not involved in the student's life and leaves the majority of the day to day responsibility to the father to care for and provide for the student and his younger siblings. Student does well in school and has been prioritizing his grades and school work. The student has expressed interest in going to summer camp but does not have the funds to attend. Attending summer camp would give the student much needed encouragement to continue to work hard towards his future goal of playing football at the college level.
