A young girl and her family have recently relocated to Florida. During their time there, she connected with an adult male on Snapchat, who persuaded her to travel to Cincinnati, even covering the cost of her Greyhound ticket. When the child left home, her mother promptly filed a missing person report, and efforts to locate her have been ongoing. Fortunately, the child has been found in Cincinnati and is currently receiving care in a hospital while arrangements are made for her safe return home. The mother is diligently working full-time to provide for her daughters and maintain their home. An adult sister is ready and willing to fly to Cincinnati to bring her sister back, but the family is currently facing financial challenges that prevent them from affording the travel expenses.

I am writing on behalf of a devoted and selfless aunt who has recently taken on the unexpected but welcome responsibility of caring for her 6-week-old great-niece. While this new addition to her home is a true blessing, it has also brought urgent and unforeseen needs as she works to create a safe, nurturing, and organized environment for the baby.

One of the immediate needs is a functional dresser to store the baby’s clothing and other essential items. Unfortunately, the current dresser is broken and no longer safe or suitable for use. A stable, reliable piece of furniture would make a meaningful difference in helping this caregiver remain organized and provide the attentive care the child deserves.

As many of you know, a few weeks ago I submitted a request regarding a mother with 2 children that lost their home May 2025. We have not been able to secure housing for this family. Children's Division is actively working with this family to find housing. A referral to LOVE Columbia has been submitted and we are waiting for assistance. In the meantime, the family has been staying at a local hotel here in Columbia. One of the children struggles with small spaces due to his diagnosis (Autism). Mom is employed full time and is paying for their stay at the hotel. Hotel stays become expensive over time, although mom is staying at hotels that are reasonably priced. Mom is paying for their hotel room one week at a time. I am asking for assistance from the community to pay for some of the hotel nights. The family moved to a new hotel on Monday 7/7/25. Assisting mom with some financial assistance will help alleviate some of the stress she is facing. This will prevent her from taking out another loan and using money from her housing deposit. They hotel nightly rate is $ 54.00/Night + tax ($7.00). If you are able to assist, we will be forever grateful, thank you.

This has put a major financial strain and hardship on the mother. With additional unforeseen costs of travel, medical bills, prescription costs, and lost time from work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to help this family with this urgent need as they are facing eviction.
