Currently I have a single mother who has a son who has a pending diagnosis of Autism. Mother is working full-time and providing her own housing as a single mother. The father of the family has recently passed away. Mother is currently working on finding adequate day programs in the KC metro area until diagnosis is completed. Mother has fallen behind on her light bill due to needing to buy groceries. Mother is struggling due to her financial stated being just above receiving assistance and living paycheck to paycheck. I am afraid if the bill continues to fall behind that the child would be without lights this summer and vital for him to be able to be productive and safe while at home.

This is a big one but very necessary. Any amount you can donate helps! We have a former foster youth that was reunified with his family needing emergency surgery to remove his wisdom teeth. He is 19 and no longer qualifies for medicaid, but does not have the resources to cover this medically necessary procedure. Please consider funding any amount you can for this need. Thank you!

I have a 16 year old girl who got accepted for her 1st job and very excited to start, she reported that she will start her job this week. This youth will be needing clothing and shoes for her work. She will need a black sneaker shoes size 91/2 woman and 3 black leggings size XL woman.

Single parent in the Bronx with 3 children is currently unemployed. She was working on a part-time basis but had to take time off to support her mother who is very ill with cancer. The caregiver herself has also been in and out of the hospital with chronic back pain which has also prevented her from going back to work full time. Caregiver is also dealing with distressing and unkempt conditions in her apartment that her landlord has been made aware of for over 3 years. She has been approved to move to a new place with the help of HRA, but she still need assistance purchasing the new items for her home. Caregiver is interested in queen size and full size sheets, pot sets and other kitchen items such as a toaster, cups, bowls, spoons, , wash cloths and bathroom towels.

A 5-year-old girl was recently placed in foster care, separated from her mother. As she starts to settle in with new caregivers, she’s hoping for a bike with an adjustable seat (she’s tall for her age), along with a helmet and training wheels. Having her own bike would give her a safe and fun way to ride around the neighborhood with her foster family and help her feel some normalcy during this challenging time.

These boys came into care because of mom’s substance use and now is placed with an aunt and uncle. One of the boys has been in care before in 2016 because of the same issue. Needing to start getting school clothes for the boys. Asking for 2 $150 gift cards. This will allow both kids to get some clothes and a pair of shoes.

This mother and her children, 9 year old daughter and just turned 18 year old daughter, have been associated with WRPC for many years. She is leaving an unsafe situation due to the father's substance abuse and needs help to cover legal fees. Mom has obtained a restraining order and is working with the Branch House Family Justice Center. She has been advised by social services that Legal Aid is not the way to go because there is a waiting list and with a child involved it is more difficult for anyone to pick up the case. Any amount will help!

Single working mom with 3 kids ages 14, 10 and 3 1/2 years old is in desperate need of temporary assistance to prevent eviction. She has previously experienced homelessness with her three minor children and is fearful of this happening again just as she was able to begin to feel secure in her new place over the past 6 months. Through no fault of her own, there was a break in pay the first week in July causing her to fall behind. The leasing company is very strict and threatening to begin eviction process, even though she has said she will have the money by the last week of this month, they want it now! The total amount needed is $2,150. Please help keep this family together in their home. Because she is gainfully employed, she will not have any problems going forward. A previous mom we helped some time ago has stated the bed we gave is now worn. A photo was provided to show that. She would appreciate a twin bed for her son (mattress and box springs and rails, or platform frame) and a comforter. This will help her son to get the sleep he needs to be healthy and feel secure.
