This kindhearted and determined young woman is 25 years old and wears many hats with grace. She works as a medical caretaker, which is a profession close to her heart as she provides medical care for her younger brother who has medical needs. On top of that, she’s a loving mother to a sweet two-year-old son, who is the light of her life and her biggest motivation. Since joining our program, she’s truly hit the ground running. Her dedication to building a better life for her son and supporting her family is inspiring. Despite financial challenges, she didn’t hesitate to open her home to her mother and brother when they fell on hard times. Now, all four of them live together in a fourth floor, small two-bedroom apartment with no central AC and very limited airflow, which has made the warmer months especially difficult, particularly with a toddler and a medically fragile sibling. She would greatly benefit from having a portable AC unit, whether window-mounted or freestanding, to bring some relief and comfort to her home. This would mean so much to her and her family, helping her continue to provide a safe and nurturing space for those she loves most.

A single father is working diligently to regain custody of his 9-month-old daughter after his wife passed away. He fully engages in all required services and makes remarkable progress toward reunification. However, he needs support to meet his daughter's basic needs. He is seeking assistance with items such as a crib, stroller, or a grocery gift card. Any financial assistance or contributions toward these needs would help him stay focused on his case and continue building a stable future for his family. Youth is asking for a $200 Visa Gift Card to purchase groceries and summer clothing. Youth supports herself and uses the money she earns to pay her bills and save up for an apartment. Youth needs help purchasing groceries and getting weather appropriate clothing.

Family in Urgent Need of Safe Housing Support.

A single mother of two—one child just 2 years old and the other 17—is currently facing unsafe living conditions in her apartment. For some time, the unit has suffered from severe structural issues, including floors caving in and a large hole in the bathtub. While the landlord has recently started repairing the hole, they’ve now discovered a leak in the apartment that may require extended repairs.

Instead of providing a safe, habitable solution, the landlord has asked the mother and her children to temporarily relocate to another unit on the property that is known to be in even worse condition. The proposed unit has been reported to be infested with rodents and presents numerous additional concerns for the family's health and safety.

In her attempt to advocate for herself and her children, the mother reached out to the local housing department. Unfortunately, the only support offered was a letter allowing her to vacate the apartment. However, with her sole income being Supplemental Security Income (SSI), she lacks the financial resources to secure a new place to live—particularly the upfront costs such as a rental deposit.

This family urgently needs support to find safe and stable housing. Assistance with a security deposit or temporary housing could make all the difference in preventing homelessness and ensuring these children can live in a clean and secure environment.

There is a 30-ish year-old young man living at apartments in Castle Rock. He is paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheelchair. He was granted special permission to be at these apartments even though he doesn't qualify due to his age. He receives food from Help & Hope on a monthly basis when they visit him. His family lives in Elizabeth and has even less money than this young man. It is noted that sometimes he will give his money to his mom/dad so they can eat.

Help & Hope has been going to this gentleman's apartment on Wednesdays when they deliver food to him, and have been making his bed and doing light chores for him.

Looking for a weekly/monthly volunteer(s) who would like to visit this young man and assist with light chores?

One of the men who attended our Pathway Church services at the Sedgwick County Jail, was recently released from jail. This individual embraced his faith while in jail and consistently attended and participated in the nightly Bible study classes. He has not only been faithful in his own spiritual growth but also actively involved in mentoring and encouraging younger inmates. To help him with his transition, he moved to Ivery House as part of Recovery Hub. With the relationships he has developed, he plans to stay connected with our church community by attending Sunday services and participating in the Thursday night men’s group. By covering the cost of his stay, it will give him a safe and stable place to live as he begins to re-establish himself in the workforce and the community.

We have two Fostering Together youth that are starting new schools in August. They have both had recent growth spurts and are in need of new clothes and shoes for back to school. We want then to feel comfortable and confident with this fresh start. Please consider donating any amount towards this need. A single mom raising three children is in need of one large or two sm-med window unit air conditioners. After months of reaching out to her landlord she has finally been told that the central a/c will not be repaired and it is her responsibility to provide window units. She is currently unemployed and struggling with food security so purchasing these units is not feasible for her.
