Story
Client is a devoted single mother to a 3-month-old infant and is currently experiencing a hardship. Her infant car seat no longer detaches from the stroller, making it unsafe and difficult to use. Despite seeking help from others in her transitional housing, she has been unable to secure support for the car travel system.
She has been enrolled in the SHIELDS for Families CalAIM Program for the past 8 months, receiving support with housing, her DCFS case, employment, and managing life stressors. Committed to her child’s safety and well-being, she reached out to her CalWORKs GAIN worker and the WIC office, but neither were able to assist and referred her back to SHIELDS.
Client is preparing to begin a program and relies heavily on public transportation and insurance-provided rides for healthcare appointments. A safe, functional stroller and car seat are essential for her to continue caring for her infant and moving forward in her journey as she continues to participate in programs and achieve stability.
