This youth was recently released from Shawnee County DCF custody. At the time she was released from custody she has arrangements to live with her previous Foster care provider. This arrangement fell through on 06/11/25. She is staying with a friend until she is able to get a place of her own, open her Independent living case with DCF and find employment. She does not have minutes on her cell phone (Straight talk) and her friend is asking for help with groceries and household expenses while she is staying at her house. She has very few reliable natural resources. She is utilizing APPLA aged out case management services.

The family came to the departments attention after the father, who is in the Army Reserves, had a mental health episode. Since then, the mother has moved out of their family with her two children ages 1 and 2. They are now staying in the home with the maternal grandmother. After conducting a home assessment, it was brought to our attention that the mother is sharing a queen size bed with both children which is unsafe. The department does not recommend co-sleeping with children. The mother is currently looking for work to support herself and the children; however she has not found employment and finances are limited to buy beds. The father, although compliant with DCFS recommendations, is now unable to work in the Army reserves due to his mental health, and is underemployed to assist with purchasing beds for the children. Support is needed to ensure that the children have their own beds to sleep in comfortably.

A single mom going through a divorce is trying to become financially independent. She currently makes very little income, and needs assistance to help pay for gas so she can drive her children to school and different activities while she looks for work.

CASA has a case with three children on it who were removed from mom due to the baby being born substance-exposed and mom and dad both having substance use struggles and mental health issues. The children are living with their grandma locally and grandma could use some assistance getting the older two children some summer clothes, a swimsuit each and a pair of sandals. CASA is requesting a Walmart gift card to cover these items. This can be a physical card or electronic.

I am working with a client who is a single mother. She has been diligent in maintaining her rent payments and has also been working hard to create a stable and nurturing home environment, strengthening her relationship with her child. Despite her efforts, she has fallen behind on her electric bill, due to car repairs, which has resulted in a service disconnection. At this time, the full outstanding balance is required in order to restore electricity to the home. Any full or partial assistance toward this balance would be deeply appreciated.

Glocal provides for the physical needs for a new baby to be welcomed through a baby shower. We are currently out of the baby bath sets that include baby shampoo, baby lotion and diaper cream. Many stores sell these as a set or we can use the individual items and gift them to these moms that are usually having their first baby in the US. so far this year, Glocal has given showers or made deliveries to over 40 moms and we have 5 coming up next week. this will support us through the end of the summer.

Mother and 4 children, (16 year old boy, 13 year old gird and 7 year old twins boy and girl) are living in a hotel room and in need of food as soon as possible.

Bio mom of 5 children just started new job after missing 7 months of work due to her young son's behavioral issues at school. He is now been diagnosed with ADHD and ODD and is receiving the help he needs. As a result of missing so much work, she is behind on some critical bills. She needs to pay $265 for a title loan on her car to prevent repossession. She also needs to pay the West End Center $280 for them to keep her kid for the summer so she can work. She is also requesting a Wal-Mart gift card to buy her kids swim trunks and shoes for their daycare as well as toiletry and household items needed.

One of our own church members who is elderly and disabled is seeking assistance with creating a new home in an apartment. She is needing some basic needs to furnish her home. Some people have already donated a couch, bed, dresser and blender. She is needing the following items: TV (24-32"), TV stand, dining room table and chairs, dinnerware set, vacuum cleaner, pots and pans, microwave oven, set of bathroom towels (bath, washcloth, hand towel), shower curtain, queen-sized bedding set, and kitchen towels. She will be moving to her new apartment later in June.

Gently used items are acceptable for the furniture, microwave and dishes.
