Help Preserve a Kinship Placement

62197941-A dedicated and loving caregiver who has taken on the challenge of raising two children, ages 10 and 7, sought help from OhioKAN to address urgent repairs in their home to ensure a safer environment for the children and the entire family. The caregiver applied for two local home improvement grants. Traditionally, the family has taken pride in their ability to care for each other and manage household expenses. However, with her husband’s retirement leading to a significant reduction in their income and our caregiver currently unable to work, they are facing financial constraints. They would be immensely grateful for any assistance in replacing and/or installing exterior and interior doors, which would greatly enhance safety and stability in their home. Below are the needed tasks! If anyone has the ability to help with any portions of this request, either some or all of the materials, or some or all of the labor, then we can assess the possibility of supporting or finding support for the remaining needs in the request!

  • INSTALLATION OF A NEW 36 X 80 HALF GLASS WITH GRIDS ENTRY DOOR ON THE FRONT. * INSTALLATION OF A NEW 36 X 80 HALF GLASS WITH GRIDS ENTRY DOOR ON THE BACK. * INSTALLATION OF A NEW ALIKE STORM DOOR ON THE FRONT. * INSTALLATION OF A NEW ALIKE STORM DOOR ON THE BACK.
  • INSTALLATION OF (3) NEW PRIMED WHITE 6 PANEL INTERIOR BEDROOM DOORS. * INSTALLATION OF (1) NEW PRIMED WHITE 6 PANEL BATHROOM DOOR.

Help Preserve an Adoptive Placement

We have a devoted adoptive and foster mom to five amazing children—ages 1, 4, 5, 6, and 14. She’s adopted three and fosters two, creating a loving home where every child feels safe and valued.

Recently, she received heartbreaking news: one of her children has been diagnosed with a terminal condition. As she pours her love and energy into caring for her child and keeping her family strong, the everyday needs continue to grow.

With summer here, her children are in need of clothing, shoes, and basic essentials. Gift cards to places like Target or Walmart would go a long way in helping this family provide for them without added stress. These simple things summer outfits, socks, sandals, even school supplies would bring comfort and a sense of normalcy during a very difficult time.

Any support would mean the world to this parent and her children. Thank you for helping a family that gives so much love to others.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

I am writing to request support for a child who was recently returned to their guardian’s care through reunification. During their time in foster care and the transition back home, many of the child’s clothing items were lost or outgrown. As a result, they are currently without essential summer clothing.

At this time, the child is in need of basic seasonal items such as shorts, t-shirts, sandals, swimwear, and undergarments. These items are not only necessary for daily comfort and participation in outdoor activities, but also vital in helping the child feel a sense of stability and dignity as they adjust to their new environment.

Any level of assistance would be greatly appreciated. Your support will make a meaningful difference in this child’s life and help ensure they are equipped for a safe and healthy summer.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Tops and bottom - Adult Medium Shoes- Size 7

Help Improve an Adult’s Well-Being

Newly arrived Special Immigrant Visa holder family of 7 who fled from Afghanistan (US allies) is needing a bunkbed for 4 daughters to settle into a single bedroom in their 2 BR-1BA apartment this week.

Unfortunately, due to limited space in bedroom (needing to fit 2 sets of bunk beds), twin bunk beds will fit better than full bunk beds, so probably not flexible on that aspect of this request.

Depending on the bunk bed frame that you donate, we may or may not need box springs, so I didn't add those explicitly to this request.

Thanks!

Help Support a Youth Aging Out

We have a youth accepted to Georgia Gwinnett College starting in August. She will definitely need a laptop for school. Although her tuition should be covered by the state through the Independent Living Program (ILP), she will be living on campus and will have to pay her own dorm fees, ($400 per month). She will have a job on campus to try to cover those fees, but is also working now trying to save up for a car. She would greatly appreciate any and all help you could provide to set her up well to succeed at school. Please join us in praying for this youth!

Help Remove an Educational Barrier for a Child

Backpacks & BBQ is an annual outreach event hosted by Middletown Nazarene Church that brings together our church, community, and local partners to support students and families preparing for the school year. We provide free backpacks, serve a full cookout-style meal, and offer a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for children in need in our community.

Each summer, hundreds of neighbors come together at our church for this day of joy and generosity. Children leave ready to start school with confidence and dignity — and families leave knowing they are seen, supported, and loved.

More information about the event can be found here: Go To Link

As part of this event, we want to provide sanitary and hygiene products for the students, so they can go back to school with confidence.
