A mother of 3 children, two boys and a girl, has been completing her probation in Georgia. She has recently become homeless and due to loss of employment and safety concerns, she no longer has anywhere to stay. Her sister, who lives in NJ, has offered to have mom come out there to stay with her for a few weeks so she can help her get a plan in place to either stay there or return to Colorado, where her children are. In April, an aunt took placement of her triplet nephews who entered foster care due to medical neglect. The three boys are one years old. One of the triplets has a GI tube and is diagnosed as failure to thrive. At the time of removal he was hospitalized for two weeks weighing only 11lbs. The aunt has a child of her own but did not hesitate taking in her 3 nephews. Unexpectantly taking placement has been not only a financial burden but also space. They have quickly outgrown their apartment and she has located a larger home for the boys as she is able to maintain placement for as long as needed. The aunt is working but does not have the security deposit or first months rent. She needs $1550 for the security deposit and $1550 for the first months rent in order to maintain placement of the triplets

The three children are in foster care here in Colorado Springs, and are hoping to have an in person visit with their father. He lives in Maryland, and is on SSDI so he is unable to pay for the full cost of a trip (flight and hotel) for him to come see his children. He is requesting assistance to cover some of the trip at least so he is able to see his kids in person.

The Department is working with a father whose 1-year-old is currently placed in foster care while he addresses the concerns that caused the case to open. He is currently in need of assistance with a rent payment. The primary company that employs him has switched contracts and laid everyone off and in the process of processing employees out, checks have been delayed. As a result, he is struggling to make his July rent payment. This father is getting engaged in all services, participating in visits, and highly motivated towards a reunification. Any assistance with this need so that this father can continue to focus on his case and bringing his daughter home is greatly appreciated!

A 17-year-old youth has a chance to participate in Bible Camp this summer. Caregivers are unable to provide the funding for it. We are looking to get funding as soon as possible due to how quickly the camp spots are filling. Caregivers report they hope to have him participate in this camp as they also would benefit from the respite it will provide, and they want to preserve placement

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to serve two families in our community. While our assistance was very much appreciated, it does not alleviate the on-going need for these families. Both families have young children who are home during the summer months. To ensure that they have access to hot meals during the summer while they are out of school, Heartland is initiating a request to provide food gift cards to each family throughout the duration of the summer.

A father at Point Church has recently regained custody of his three children and could use some clothing items for them. He is in need of a few shirts, a few pairs of shorts, a pair of pajamas, a few pairs of socks and underwear, and a pair of shoes for his 5-year-old daughter (clothing size 5-6, shoe size 11-13), 7-year-old daughter (clothing size 8-10, underwear size 10-12, shoe size 12-13), and 10-year-old son (clothing size 14, shoe size 5). Secondhand clothing in good condition is fine. It would be a blessing for them to have these items by July 11.

Young Spanish speaking couple just had 3rd child 6 weeks ago. Momma has not been able to get back to work yet and they are struggling on one income to make rent due beginning of July! We have been connected to a family who is fostering through DHHS. This foster family has placement of 3 little children (ages from 4-8) that they are in the process of adopting. They had their washing machine and air conditioning break down in the same week and only had the funds to replace one, so they prioritized the air conditioning for the summer heat wave we had this past week. The family had a high capacity 5.3 cu-ft top-load washing machine to be able to meet with laundry demands of their family and would like their replacement to have a similar capacity and similarly top-loading. The youngest child has some higher needs and frequently wets the bed which requires regular use of a washing machine for larger bedding items. The family consulted a technician who reported the costs of the repair for the washing machine would be at least $800 and the technician recommended buying a new one over paying for repairs. The listed cost is for a 5.3 cu-ft top-load with delivery from Lowe's.

A mom and her five children urgently need to relocate due to an escalating domestic violence situation. After leaving an abusive relationship four years ago and working hard to build a stable life, her safety has once again been compromised. She has made the decision to move to another state where she has supportive family and has already secured permission to transfer her housing voucher and end her current lease. The family would like to rent a U-haul to transport their household to their new location.A quote for the U-haul has been acquired and totals: $1,375.97 Gift cards to Walmart or Amazon ($300) would also be helpful in setting up their new home once they arrive.
