Story
I am advocating on behalf of a maternal grandmother who has cared for her grandsons aged 12 and 7 (youngest is on the autism spectrum) since July of 2022. Grandmother received two citations due to a complaint from a neighbor regarding the condition of the exterior of her home. She was informed by a city inspector that the fees would be waived if the issue was resolved. However, grandmother was not granted a waiver even after she made the proper adjustments. Grandmother is on a fixed income, and unfortunately, is unable to pay fees. The caregiver provides all the kids' needs and receives a little help from her eldest son with rent when he is able. I am asking for $800 to help pay for both citations. Failure to pay them will result in increased fees and the risk of her losing her home. Assisting this family will relieve a great financial burden from the caregiver, allowing her room to continue providing a loving and stable home for her grandsons who have been through so much difficulty at such a young age.
