Story
This kind-hearted and determined young woman is truly turning a new page in her life. She recently secured stable employment, which she loves, and is working hard to rebuild her foundation after several years of uncertainty. Transportation, however, remains a daily challenge. She currently relies on public buses to get to work, which she is grateful for, but her commute requires taking three separate buses and walking over a mile one way to reach the bus stops. In addition to her job, she’s been using a neighbor’s bicycle to do DoorDash for extra income. Unfortunately, since her neighbor also relies on the bike for their own transportation, this limits how often she’s able to take on delivery work. Having a bike of her own would make a meaningful difference, easing the physical demands of her commute and opening up more consistent opportunities to earn supplemental income. She is currently focused on moving into a more comfortable apartment in a safer, more familiar neighborhood, and is actively studying for her driver’s license to continue building her independence. Despite the challenges she has faced, she remains generous and community-minded; often sharing helpful resources she’s found with her caseworker so they can be passed on to others in need. A bike would help remove major barriers to transportation and employment, supporting her journey toward stability and self-sufficiency.
