Resource Linkage is working with a mother of 2, recently separated and trying to make ends meet. The mother had money saved but was charged for student loans and also tax refund taken due to new policies in place. The mother is working with a tax advocate to be re-imbursed but does not have enough money saved at the moment to pay her back rent. She does not get paid until July 15 and is in danger of facing eviction if her rent is not paid by June 30. RL will link the mother to community resources for eviction prevention assistance, any help in funding this emergent need is appreciated.

A Mom with an 8 year old daughter is requesting assistance to find an apartment in the N. Shore of Staten Island. She has a Housing Voucher and was looking for an apartment to rent. She was in a Shelter in Queens and is recovering from a Domestic violence situation. Any assistance to help this Mom and daughter find safe housing would be appreciated. Thank you.

We are reaching out on behalf of a courageous mother who has been navigating serious mental health challenges, including PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and major depression. Since 2023, these struggles have intensified.

In April 2023, a lightning strike during a severe storm caused a fire in her duplex. Her landlord’s side was severely damaged, while her basement suffered water damage. The space where her family gathered and her kids did homework was left unusable. While they were physically safe, the trauma of that night has had a lasting impact.

Since then, she’s struggled to feel safe or connected to her home. Despite renting a dumpster, hiring professional help, and following her psychologist’s advice, the clutter and disarray remain overwhelming. She has been trying for two years, but it’s become clear she cannot do this alone.

At the encouragement of her support team at Treetops, she is reaching out again. We’re seeking help with organizing, decluttering, and light cleaning. A shelf or storage support would also make a big difference.

A hardworking family of three are in need of basic baby items for their young child. The family is seeking support with diapers (size 3 or 4), baby wipes, and a baby/toddler high chair. The mother is currently unemployed and staying home to care for their child full-time, ensuring the baby receives the attention and care needed during this critical stage of development. The father is employed and covering all household expenses, but with rising costs, they are facing difficulty affording these extra items this month. Providing these essentials will directly impact the child's safety and well-being by: keeping the baby clean and healthy, supporting hygiene and preventing rashes or infections, and by offering a secure age-appropriate place to eat, reducing the risk of choking or injury during mealtimes. A father at Point Church has recently regained custody of his three children and could use some clothing items for them. He is in need of a few shirts, a few pairs of shorts, a pair of pajamas, a few pairs of socks and underwear, and a pair of shoes for his 5-year-old daughter (clothing size 5-6, shoe size 11-13), 7-year-old daughter (clothing size 8-10, underwear size 10-12, shoe size 12-13), and 10-year-old son (clothing size 14, shoe size 5). Secondhand clothing in good condition is fine. It would be a blessing for them to have these items by July 11.

We have been connected to a family who is fostering through DHHS. This foster family has placement of 3 little children (ages from 4-8) that they are in the process of adopting. They had their washing machine and air conditioning break down in the same week and only had the funds to replace one, so they prioritized the air conditioning for the summer heat wave we had this past week. The family had a high capacity 5.3 cu-ft top-load washing machine to be able to meet with laundry demands of their family and would like their replacement to have a similar capacity and similarly top-loading. The youngest child has some higher needs and frequently wets the bed which requires regular use of a washing machine for larger bedding items. The family consulted a technician who reported the costs of the repair for the washing machine would be at least $800 and the technician recommended buying a new one over paying for repairs. The listed cost is for a 5.3 cu-ft top-load with delivery from Lowe's.

A mom and her five children urgently need to relocate due to an escalating domestic violence situation. After leaving an abusive relationship four years ago and working hard to build a stable life, her safety has once again been compromised. She has made the decision to move to another state where she has supportive family and has already secured permission to transfer her housing voucher and end her current lease. The family would like to rent a U-haul to transport their household to their new location.A quote for the U-haul has been acquired and totals: $1,375.97 Gift cards to Walmart or Amazon ($300) would also be helpful in setting up their new home once they arrive.
