I'm working with a young mom and a 1 1/2 year old child. They are currently residing in a shelter and essentially “starting over”. The child will begin daycare in the next week and mom is in need of a new or gently used stroller. Mom is without transportation so she will be walking to and from daycare twice a day. The daycare is 20 mintues (one way) from her residence. A stroller will be very beneficial as the child is 1 1/2 years old and it will be difficult for mom to carry him to and from daycare. Family is in need of 2 carbon monoxide detectors and 7 smoke alarms. The family will also need help installing the items. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A single mother of five children is need of housing. In the meantime, she will be staying at the Howard Johnson Inn on US1 for a couple nights with her children at $120 per night.

This is a single mother of five children. She works long hours and has been providing items for the new home she has with her five children as she can afford to. The family could benefit from twin beds or two bunk beds and a twin bed. (Mom has said they are not too picky and the agency worker has requested for the beds also.) They would love a kitchen table, pots and pans, a microwave, a washer and/or dryer. One of the children also has a job and is trying to assist with providing some items. The family had been displaced for months so this is a situation where they are starting over. The family has a refrigerator however it leaks all over the floor.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to serve two families in our community. While our assistance was very much appreciated, it does not alleviate the on-going need for these families. Both families have young children who are home during the summer months. To ensure that they have access to hot meals during the summer while they are out of school, Heartland is initiating a request to provide food gift cards to each family throughout the duration of the summer.

A father at Point Church has recently regained custody of his three children and could use some clothing items for them. He is in need of a few shirts, a few pairs of shorts, a pair of pajamas, a few pairs of socks and underwear, and a pair of shoes for his 5-year-old daughter (clothing size 5-6, shoe size 11-13), 7-year-old daughter (clothing size 8-10, underwear size 10-12, shoe size 12-13), and 10-year-old son (clothing size 14, shoe size 5). Secondhand clothing in good condition is fine. It would be a blessing for them to have these items by July 11.

Young Spanish speaking couple just had 3rd child 6 weeks ago. Momma has not been able to get back to work yet and they are struggling on one income to make rent due beginning of July! Church of the Nativity has supported them and looking for additional church support from the community this month. Thank you!!

We have been connected to a family who is fostering through DHHS. This foster family has placement of 3 little children (ages from 4-8) that they are in the process of adopting. They had their washing machine and air conditioning break down in the same week and only had the funds to replace one, so they prioritized the air conditioning for the summer heat wave we had this past week. The family had a high capacity 5.3 cu-ft top-load washing machine to be able to meet with laundry demands of their family and would like their replacement to have a similar capacity and similarly top-loading. The youngest child has some higher needs and frequently wets the bed which requires regular use of a washing machine for larger bedding items. The family consulted a technician who reported the costs of the repair for the washing machine would be at least $800 and the technician recommended buying a new one over paying for repairs. The listed cost is for a 5.3 cu-ft top-load with delivery from Lowe's.

A mom and her five children urgently need to relocate due to an escalating domestic violence situation. After leaving an abusive relationship four years ago and working hard to build a stable life, her safety has once again been compromised. She has made the decision to move to another state where she has supportive family and has already secured permission to transfer her housing voucher and end her current lease. The family would like to rent a U-haul to transport their household to their new location.A quote for the U-haul has been acquired and totals: $1,375.97 Gift cards to Walmart or Amazon ($300) would also be helpful in setting up their new home once they arrive.
