I have two grandparents who have taken custody of their granddaughter. This was not something they expected to do so they were not prepared, and they are on a fixed income. The child is starting Kindergarten this year, and they could use some help getting school clothes and school supplies. had they known this was going to happen they could have planned and saved but sadly when it comes to our cases there is hardly any notice. The request is for a single mother of three children. She is a recent victim of Domestic Violence with the children's father. He vandalized their home, along with most of the mothers clothing. The mother and children were not home at the time; however, he continued to threaten the mother through the phone and calling her employer. The mother did obtain a restraining order for herself and the children and was granted a no contact order for five years. The mother works full time and receives limited support for maternal grandmother who can only assist with childcare. Maternal grandmother also depends on the mother for financial support. The mother is able to provide the necessities for the children; however, the youngest child is now has outgrown her toddler bed and in need of a larger bed. The mother is struggling financially to make ends meet and cannot afford a new bed for the child. The mother would appreciate any support she could get toward strengthening their family.

The Children’s Advocacy Center is seeking a $50 gift card to Shoe Department in Holland for a 10 year old child. The kiddo recently had a growth spurt and no longer fits any of her shoes. She is currently wearing mom’s shoes since that is all that fits her. Mom is the sole caregiver and does have income. However, with Summer and replacing clothes, she is unable to afford this additional cost. Your donation would support a child so she has shoes that fit!

A dedicated mother of five, who recently relocated to our community in March, is working hard to build a stable life for her children. She’s currently staying in a hotel that’s conveniently located near both of her jobs — a blessing that helps her save on gas and keep her vehicle running reliably. Despite working two jobs and doing everything she can to make ends meet, the cost of nightly stays adds up quickly. She’s doing her absolute best to keep her children safe, housed, and cared for while she works toward more permanent housing. In addition to housing support, this mom could also use help with clothing for herself and her five children. With growing kids and limited resources while trying to make ends meet right now, it’s been hard to keep up with their everyday needs. If you’re able to donate new or gently used clothing, it would be a huge help in keeping them comfortable and confident as they adjust to their new environment. Hope's Promise has been counseling with a young single mother who has no support system and is parenting an 4 month old infant. She is struggling with physical and mental health issues. We are requesting funds for her to utilize respite care for 7 days. She may use these days all at once or a few days at a time to get a break while she manages her own health concerns.

This is a big one but very necessary. Any amount you can donate helps! We have a former foster youth that was reunified with his family needing emergency surgery to remove his wisdom teeth. He is 19 and no longer qualifies for medicaid, but does not have the resources to cover this medically necessary procedure. Please consider funding any amount you can for this need. Thank you!

This mother and her children, 9 year old daughter and just turned 18 year old daughter, have been associated with WRPC for many years. She is leaving an unsafe situation due to the father's substance abuse and needs help to cover legal fees. Mom has obtained a restraining order and is working with the Branch House Family Justice Center. She has been advised by social services that Legal Aid is not the way to go because there is a waiting list and with a child involved it is more difficult for anyone to pick up the case. Any amount will help!

Single working mom with 3 kids ages 14, 10 and 3 1/2 years old is in desperate need of temporary assistance to prevent eviction. She has previously experienced homelessness with her three minor children and is fearful of this happening again just as she was able to begin to feel secure in her new place over the past 6 months. Through no fault of her own, there was a break in pay the first week in July causing her to fall behind. The leasing company is very strict and threatening to begin eviction process, even though she has said she will have the money by the last week of this month, they want it now! The total amount needed is $2,150. Please help keep this family together in their home. Because she is gainfully employed, she will not have any problems going forward. A previous mom we helped some time ago has stated the bed we gave is now worn. A photo was provided to show that. She would appreciate a twin bed for her son (mattress and box springs and rails, or platform frame) and a comforter. This will help her son to get the sleep he needs to be healthy and feel secure.
