Story
I am writing on behalf of a client who is in urgent need of rental assistance due to a recent and critical medical emergency. She recently gave birth to a premature infant who is currently hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The mother travels approximately 40 minutes each way to be by her newborn’s side daily, as she is committed to nursing and pumping to support the baby’s health and development. In addition to caring for her hospitalized infant, she is also the primary caregiver to her three young children at home. The emotional, physical, and financial toll of this situation has made it impossible for her to return to work at this time, and she has fallen behind on her rent. Without immediate rental assistance, this mother and her children are at risk of losing their housing. This would not only destabilize the family, but it would also severely impact her ability to remain present for her infant in the NICU, potentially disrupting the baby's recovery and bonding process. She is doing everything in her power to care for her family under extremely difficult circumstances. Your support at this time could make the difference between stability and crisis for this family.
