The local family has faced an unimaginable loss as they lost their home and all their belongings in the Eaton wildfire that devastated our Altadena community. They are now left with only a few pictures and clothes that they grabbed as they raced out of their home, and now facing the emotional and financial challenges of starting over. They have always been pillars of support in their family and community. As a retired senior living on a fixed income, lost both his residence of 26 years and his primary mode of transportation in the fire. Although he has received insurance payouts for the dwelling and contents, these funds were either directed to third parties or are insufficient to cover the immense costs of rebuilding a home in today’s market, They are temporarily renting a home in Studio City at a high cost. They plan to stay in this housing for 10–12 months while they rebuild their lives and prepare for permanent housing. However, the high rent, coupled with their limited income, places them under considerable financial strain. Supporting them with one month’s rent will help bridge a critical gap during this transition period, allowing him to preserve personal funds for the monumental task of rebuilding.

HeartReach received a call from a client asking if we could help her obtain a twin size bed for her fast growing 3 1/2 year old daughter as she has outgrown her toddler bed. She is actively engaging with support services and doing an amazing job building a healthy life for herself and her daughter. Her income is limited and she shared that her boyfriend's hours were recently cut at work and they are feeling the strain on their finances. After chatting with her further it was determined that she would also need the bedding and pillow to go with the new bed frame and mattress. She shared that her daughter loves pink and blue, unicorns, Stitch, Bluey and Care Bears.

Aself-employed bodyworker (massage, stretching, movement) who has been serving her community in Altadena and Los Angeles for the past three years lived alone in a rented 800-square-foot house that was completely destroyed in a fire earlier this year. Her home was a total loss due to the fire. Since January 7, she has had to relocate eight times, often without assistance, and is currently staying in temporary housing. Her housing situation will become more stable starting July 16, when she moves into a long-term rental with a monthly rent of $2,000. However, the toll of repeated displacements and the lack of household items has made this transition extremely difficult. She had no renters insurance and therefore received no compensation for the loss of her personal property or relocation expenses. As a self-employed bodyworker, she had to close her practice for three weeks due to hazardous air quality and personal trauma, resulting in a drop in income. Her specific needs include: Security deposit for her new rental and First month rent. She missed out on furniture drives and relief distributions earlier this year because she had no secure place to store items. She is now starting from scratch and deeply needs help to make her new space functional and livable. This financial assistance will help her settle into her first stable home in months and recover a sense of peace and normalcy after a long period of displacement, grief, and instability.

We currently are fostering 3 children and want to continue to make their experience meaningful. We have a 12 year old girl who could use some basketball shoes (size 7.5) and probably extra socks. We also have a sibling set ( girl 2, boy 1) who could use some pajamas. She wears 3T and he’s in 18month. Diapers and wipes are always needed. Thank you so much!

A local man who was impacted by the fires was able to secure housing for himself. He is in need of financial assistance to cover the deposit for the place. He is working and able to cover his rent, but this will be able to help him sign his lease fast and start the moving in process.

We want to share the story of a courageous single mother who recently took a huge step forward. After experiencing homelessness, she entered the Pearl’s Hope program and has worked tirelessly to build a better life for herself and her 8-month-old son — who she has now joyfully reunified with.

When she arrived at the program, she brought all she could for her baby, but only had two outfits for herself and a single pair of flip-flops.

Today, she’s proud to be working as a cashier — on her feet for hours each day — and she’s asking for a small lift to keep going strong.

There is a single mom within our community who is in great need of assistance. She has two little children (girl -2, boy-1) and is expected to deliver her 3rd child. 🟧 Urgent Help for Single Mother of 3 Facing Homelessness While Caring for Child with Leukemia

Request Details: A single mother of three children (ages 3 to 8) is facing an extremely difficult season. Her 8-year-old son was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing treatment, which required her to resign from her job in order to care for him full-time.

She is also currently expecting twins (a boy and a girl) and does not have any baby items or support prepared for their arrival. The financial strain of her son’s illness and loss of income has left her unable to pay her rent and utilities, now totaling $2,000, and she is at immediate risk of becoming homeless.
