Hope's Promise has been counseling with a young single mother who has no support system and is parenting an 4 month old infant. She is struggling with physical and mental health issues. We are requesting funds for her to utilize respite care for 7 days. She may use these days all at once or a few days at a time to get a break while she manages her own health concerns.

We have a bio father in need of financial assistance with rent. He is the sole caregiver of his 3 children and has been missing work due to court hearings and transporting children to appointments. Father is also trying to help financially support mother while she works on treatment out side of the home. The family had to abruptly move from their apartment due to flooding and incurred unexpected costs for that as well.

A grandmother, who became emergency placement for her 5 grandchildren, ages 5, 2, 1, and a set of 4 month old twins that were born prematurely, is in need of grocery assistance due to food insecurities. Due to grandmother having to pick up and leave from Michigan suddenly to come care for her grandchildren, she has no income. She would be grateful for either a Walmart gift card or King Soopers gift card to assist with this need. Thank you so much for your willingness to consider!

The family recently endured a significant loss of the mother’s grandfather who served as the father figure to all and the mother’s advocate and primary source of support. The mother is a single parent with 3 children ages 11, 3 and 1-year-old. The mother still has custody of all children however the 11-year-old and 3 year-old are temporarily residing with relatives as mother and the baby currently reside at Recovery Bridge housing treatment program. Due to the dynamics of the program, the mother is unable to work and has a limited income. The mother is also looking forward to securing stable and secure housing where she and her children will have an opportunity to co-exist in a healthy and safe physical environment. She is also looking forward to re-entry into the work force as she has an employment history and enjoys the independence and having the ability to provide for the needs of all 3 children. The department wishes to support the baby and family as the department continues to work toward transitioning them back together. For these reasons, I am advocating for the child to have the needs identified met. This assistance is required to support the baby’s immediate safety, overall safety and well-being. DCFS has assisted the family by providing assistance with clothes, hygiene products and a gift card. The estimated price of the car seat $200.00.

The home consists of 2 children under the age of 5, and 3 adults. The family is in need of treatment for a cock roach infestation.

This is a big one but very necessary. Any amount you can donate helps! We have a former foster youth that was reunified with his family needing emergency surgery to remove his wisdom teeth. He is 19 and no longer qualifies for medicaid, but does not have the resources to cover this medically necessary procedure. Please consider funding any amount you can for this need. Thank you!

This mother and her children, 9 year old daughter and just turned 18 year old daughter, have been associated with WRPC for many years. She is leaving an unsafe situation due to the father's substance abuse and needs help to cover legal fees. Mom has obtained a restraining order and is working with the Branch House Family Justice Center. She has been advised by social services that Legal Aid is not the way to go because there is a waiting list and with a child involved it is more difficult for anyone to pick up the case. Any amount will help!

Single working mom with 3 kids ages 14, 10 and 3 1/2 years old is in desperate need of temporary assistance to prevent eviction. She has previously experienced homelessness with her three minor children and is fearful of this happening again just as she was able to begin to feel secure in her new place over the past 6 months. Through no fault of her own, there was a break in pay the first week in July causing her to fall behind. The leasing company is very strict and threatening to begin eviction process, even though she has said she will have the money by the last week of this month, they want it now! The total amount needed is $2,150. Please help keep this family together in their home. Because she is gainfully employed, she will not have any problems going forward. Mother had her items stolen, including her phone. She has been working hard to get back on her feet for the sake of her daughter. A previous mom we helped some time ago has stated the bed we gave is now worn. A photo was provided to show that. She would appreciate a twin bed for her son (mattress and box springs and rails, or platform frame) and a comforter. This will help her son to get the sleep he needs to be healthy and feel secure.
