Story
17 year old child is being cared for by his paternal grandmother who is furloughed government employee. The child has a severe case of Bulimia Nervosa and requires supplemental drinks to maintain his weight as well as a healthy diet. The grandmother has visited all of her local pantries and often time she is able to get some food but never the supplemental drinks. Grandmother is also struggling with gas money to transport the child to and from his two weekly doctor's appointments. Another harsh reality, is the biological mother is collecting SSI for the child but refusing to assist the grandmother. This has been reported to the authorities and will eventually be re-routed to the grandmother but until then she is in dire need for any assistance she can get. She has applied for food stamps and was denied any assistance. At this time the family has food for about 48 hours. The grandmother is overdraft in her bank account and will not receive any pay for another 2 weeks. There is no gas for the child's upcoming appointments.
