A 46-year-old former military wife and proud mother to a service member is currently living in her car—a heartbreaking reality she’s faced since hurricanes displaced her last November. She wears a heart monitor, relies on a pacemaker, and needs a CPAP machine to breathe safely at night—when she can power it. Now her car has a flat tire, leaving with no means to deliver food through Uber Eats—her only income. Despite everything, she remains determined. She’s working with her Hope Navigator and other agencies to find a safer path forward, since her former career is no longer an option with her disabilities. She’s resourceful and advocates for herself daily. Her car is now her shelter and lifeline.
