Thanks to a generous donation from the University of Florida, we now have 80 twin bed frames ready to bless families in need across Marion County! We’re launching a MATTRESS & BEDDING DRIVE to make sure each child receives not just a bed frame, but a complete set for a safe and comfortable night’s sleep. So far, 42 families have already expressed the need. Many of these children are currently sleeping on couches, air mattresses, or even the floor. Let’s give children a bed where they can lie down and sleep in peace. In some cases, providing a bed is the final step needed for a child to return home to their family. This simple gift can open the door to reunification and healing. We’re starting with 42 beds, knowing that more requests are coming in each day. Grandparents are currently taking care of their grandson who is going to turn 3 years old in August. Both of his parents are currently incarcerated. They are living in an RV, yesterday the electricity went out in the RV. They are also behind on rent. (we are working on getting landlord information and more details and will add as a need later). The grandson currently does not have any diapers and the grandma is using her own depends for him. He wears a size 10 kids size shoes, 4T clothes, size 7 diapers. 3-4 T pull-ups.

The family does not have a working phone. They are open to things being dropped off at their address. Transportation is CART at this time due to lack of gas money and needing to use funds for other things.

The biggest concern is that the family is currently without electricity and no food storage because of this. We are going to find out the reason they do not have electricity and will request assistance for these things once we know more, but we wanted to at least get the request out for the physical items for the child listed above ASAP. UPDATE: Power has been reinstated. Family needs help catching up on their rent. They own 600 for last month and 600 for this month. Churches will need to pay landlord directly and information will be given to churches upon their claim for the need.

Current Emergency Response Social Worker met with the family and found mother and child recently arrived in the US and began living with strangers who took them in off the streets. The environment with this new family was not helpful for child’s fragile mental health, as she was already experienced sexual abuse and physical abuse and witnessed severe domestic violence between mother and father. Over the course of the week, mother was able to rent a new room in LA 90001 to help alleviate some stress and anxiety for her child. Mother is in need of a small/slim refrigerator for food storage. This need is for a 17 year old boy, living with his brother who is also young. Both of his parents are incarcerated. He has very little. He is asking for: Clothes; XL top, 34x34 pants Socks: size 10 Body wash Deodorant Shampoo Toothpaste Basic school supplies, backpack, calculator Gift cards would also be okay

Mother is in need of a cellphone with minutes. She is trying to move out of father’s home and recently lost her phone and her car broke down. Mother needs phone to keep in touch with DHS Caseworker and be able to connect to local resources. Mother has 4-year-old child.

One of our favorite Wooddale Staff is needing to move to California for family reasons and needs our Helping Hands at her home, preferably the week of July 21 and all work completed by July 27. The following needs to be addressed are listed:

1.) there is a decent sized hole in the drywall that needs filling (from my mom’s oxygen tank)

2.) help with weeding planter beds and trimming shrubs

The Holmes Family, who we have helped before, when 6 kids were adopted by their mother’s sisters, continues to grow and thrive! So their needs have also changed. They have moved into a new home and need the following items.

This single mom of two boys has been unemployed after the birth of her second child who is now 4 months old. She also has a 2.5 yr old at home who was recently diagnosed with autism. Their father is absent due to legal troubles and she is not receiving child support at this time. She got a job offer yesterday and accepted so will be starting to work again this week. Her natural supports are few as her mother struggles with addiction. She is very grateful for the help of her grandmother who assists with childcare. She and her children have been living in a 1 bdrm apt and have been approved for a 2 bedroom but are lacking resources for the security deposit. She has a mattress on the floor but would love a bed frame for it to provide more comfort, and she is ready to transition her 2.5 year old son to a twin bed, which will allow them all to have a better nights rest. Security deposit and Bed items are priorities. She would love to have a table and chair set for her son to eat at and bar stools so she can eat at the kitchen counter. This is a church vetted request that originated at the North Side DCC campus. She is very willing to accept a visit from our team to provide encouragement and spiritual support. Referrals to helping agencies have been made as well. Provision for these needs will provide relief from a crowded and stressful living situation, as well as restful nights sleep for the family as they navigate their challenges.

There is an individual within the church that coaches underprivileged children that is in need of athletic gear / shoes / cleats for a few of the children in order for them to remain active in sports this summer and throughout the upcoming school year.. mainly he is in need of basketball shoes any sizes and size 12.5 men's cleats and tennis/ basketball shoes. If u have any kids or adult shoes for males new or used in good condition that u would like to donate please please reach out these kids are desperately needing these to continue with the well-being of their athletic abilities not to mention being active in sports helps with the mental well being of our children in today's society
