Story
A teen girl is the oldest of 8 siblings. Her mother got admitted to a substance residential treatment 6 months ago, and is currently there. The teen is with her maternal grandmother. The grandmother is doing her best providing for the children she has in her custody, however, not enough to purchase a laptop for the teen girl. She is 17 years old, and failing in her academics. She only has 2 high school credits as an incoming senior. For months now, she stopped going to school, and is facing discharge from Broward County School Board. As of last month, there has been a shift in her behavior, thanks to The Education attorney, assigned to the case. They have assisted her in getting a job a Publix, and started working on her GED. The teen has completed Math, Reading, and science GED Prep test on the attorney's computer, however, she will need her own laptop for the course. The teen has proven herself to wanting to get serious about her future. She realized that she will not get a high school diploma due to lack of credits, and getting her GED while the case is open is her last chance to succeed before she turns 18. Assistance with a laptop will change the trajectory of this teens life and confidence.
