Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
We have a teen mom (who only speaks Spanish) that currently lives in an rv with her son. Her boyfriend spent all the money they have on immigration lawyers and so this month they don’t have enough money to make rent and because she is in high school and a mom she isn’t able to make enough money to make up the money. They currently need $600 by the end of the month to pay their landlord so they don’t have to move to a shelter. Anything helps - even just prayer!

The cell phone is an essential tool to maintain communication with social worker regarding visits with her child as well as service providers. Mother was just referred to an enhanced care management program which will provide her with a case manager and the services she desperately needs to heal and reunify with her child. At this time $75 is needed to pay the past due amount for the cell phone bill. Mother would greatly appreciate any assistance provided.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
Mother is a victim of doemstic violence. For the safety of her children and herself, she left the father of the children and is now navigating a single parent home. She has been cooperating with DCFS and completed a parenting course, attends DV support group and has worked closely with an in home counselor to improve her children's emotional well being. Mother secured employment. Unfortunately, her income is limited and barely covers the family's living expensese. Currently, mother and her three children are sleeping on one mattress on the floor. Sadly, the mattress that the family is sleeping on belongs to another family member who lent it to them temporarily. The family is in need of a bunk bed, a twin bed and mattresses and mother could sleep on a sofa couch, so they can all fit in their small home. The family is also in need of a dresser as they currently do not have any place to store their clothes in. Lastly, the living room does not have central lighting and it is always dark, thereby a floor lamp is also needed. Any donation available would greatly be appreciated. Please contact us for Amazon links as they will not fit in this space.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
Three children ages 5, 4, and 1 years old are in placement with paternal aunt and uncle. They are committed to caring for the children and ensuring their needs are met. The paternal aunt does not drive and they are in need of assistance in order to enroll in driving school so she could alleviate driving responsibilities from Paternal Uncle. She does not know how to drive and recently left her job in order to care for the 3 siblings. Paternal Uncle/her husband is the only person working in the household and is paying all financial obligations so she can care for the children; however with appointments during the day she cannot get them to and from due to not driving. Caregivers mentioned they would be relieved if the aunt is able to transport the children to school, daycare, wraparound appointments, and visits with bio-mother instead of the uncle having to be available to transport the entire time when he has to work. They have identified a driving school and are willing to pay some of the costs but cannot afford to pay the full amount of $620 for drivers training.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
My kin caregiver is currently caring for her 17-year-old younger brother, along with two great nephews, ages 3 and 13. A few months ago, she became the primary provider for her household, after her boyfriend could no longer work due to declining vision. Recently, my kin caregiver paid approximately $4,000 for an engine repair needed on her work/personal vehicle. Additionally, her CalWORKs benefits were temporarily suspended in January 2025 due to a clerical error. Although her benefits have since been restored, she was informed that no back payments would be issued. As a result of these recent changes, the family has fallen behind on rent. While my kin caregiver had made payment arrangements with her landlord that would have allowed her to gradually repay her past due rent, her landlord abruptly rescinded the agreement and is now demanding the back rent be paid in full. Assisting my kin caregiver with $1,500 in rental assistance would not only ensure that her younger brother and great nephews have access to stable housing, but would also allow her to focus her financial resources on their long-term needs.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
We're working with a grandmother who is caring for her 12-year old grandson; her daughter (child's mother) is addressing her mental health and currently receiving professional psychiatric help at an inpatient facility. Grandmother cared for her grandson in the past when he and mom both needed help. For financial reasons, grandma is feeling overwhelmed about having her grandson with her again. He also struggles with mental health and feels depressed. We'd like to try to alleviate some of grandma's financial burden and so we're asking for Visa gift cards that grandma can use as needed (groceries, medication, utility bills, etc). Thank you!

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
A mother with a history of domestic violence recently took her child (11 years old) to the Emergency Room, where she was put in a splint with a wrist fracture. This injury was the result of physical abuse from her father. Mom contacted law enforcement and fled; she is currently staying in a DV safe house with her children. Unfortunately, dad has control of their finances. Mom qualified for assistance with food and the safe house is assisting with clothing for the kids. We're requesting gas cards for mom so she can get back and forth from our office, the Family Justice Center where she is receiving services, and the shelter. Thank you!
