Story
I am working with a student who is in the 7th grade. This student is a very bright student who is responsible for herself and her younger brother. They live at home with their father and 2 small dogs. I love how this student has faced many obstacles in her life, but continues to thrive academically by being on the A/B Honor Roll. She is also always looking out for her brother when it comes to school work and stresses that she constantly has to tell him to do his homework and help him learn because he doesn't always pay attention in class. Most recently, this student had to miss a lot of school due to her father being injured at work and had to stay with her aunt in the suburbs. I was very worried about this student and was checking my email constantly to see if she emailed me back to say she was okay. My student had no access to a devise to check her school email or allow her to do school work for over a week. She shares a phone with her brother and dad usually makes her let him use it because he enjoys playing games on it. Giving this student her own tablet to access google classroom and the abiliity to use other applications, would help support this student to continue her academic success. After the tablet is purchased for this student, I plan on meeting with the father to apply for the "Project 10 Million" through T-Mobile to get a hotspot to access Wi-Fi at her home or wherever she may be. I believe in this student and believe that your help would help immensely.
