A young adult (previously in foster care) would like to take placement of her teen brother (currently in foster care). The barrier is a lack of beds in the home. The teen would need to share a room with another child. Bunk beds would assist the approval of the placement and the reunification of siblings.

M who is a 5-year-old little girl and her sister, A who is a 15-year-old female have a mom and dad that are working hard to keep their family together. Dad is having some medical issues right now and had to stop working while mom is doing the best that she can to provide what her wages allow. Things are so financially strained that it would be a huge blessing if some wonderful CarePortal Churches could work together and help their needs get met. They have received a shut-off notice for utilities and that is worrying mom and dad. Can you please help this family? Thank you for any gently used clothing items or financial help paying utilities that you can. We appreciate all of you so much.

There is a husband and a wife that agreed to take in all five of the wife's grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren aren't biologically related to her, but despite that she was more than willing to take in all five children so that the siblings wouldn't be separated. The family has been able to provide these children with all of the items that they need with no notice of these children coming into care and needing placement. The three youngest children have a bedroom with a closet and dresser for their belongings to go. But the two oldest don't have a dresser for their clothes yet. We are asking for someone to be able to donate a dresser for the two older girls so that they will have a place for their clothes to go. Having this dresser provided will bring even more stability into their lives as they are making the transition to living with their grandparents. This will also help make getting ready into the morning for school an easier and normal process. Help would be truly appreciated!
Trying to maintain placement for 10-year-old, 3-year-old and 6-week-old.
Kinship caregiver had placement of two siblings; a third sibling disrupted earlier this week and the caregiver accepted placement in order to keep the siblings together. The caregiver is struggling with some needs for the children and may not be able to maintain placement. At this time, there are no other relative or non-relative caregivers and licensed care will be the only option.
Caregiver is in need of long-sleeve sleepers (3-6 months), socks, a stroller and diapers (size 2) for 6-week-old, 4 large 3-door containers for clothing storage and basic hygiene products for the 10-year-old, specifically hair products. The 3-year-old is in need of shoes (size 10) and general clothes (4/5T). The 10-year-old is struggling emotionally and the caregiver would like some journals and self-help books for her. She would also like some skates (size 9).
Should the caregiver be able to maintain placement, she will be working with the children's parents collaboratively and hopefully towards reunification.
There is a 17 year old high school senior is passing all of her classes except for math & she really wants to graduate in the spring of 2023.
She asked for support (aside from what the school is providing) because she believes that she never learned elementary and middle school math properly, which makes her high school math extremely difficult to understand.
The GRE book (Graduate Record Examination) breaks down math from arithmetic (elementary school level) to algebra (high school level) & it includes practice tests and answers to know if you got answers correctly.
On Amazon.com it is as affordable as $5.64 (for a used/good book). It can get more expensive (around $37.00) for a newer book, but a used book is more than enough.

Bedford DSS is currently working with a family of 3 including a 16 yo female child. The family resides in a older home that needs repairs. The family has the ability to independently complete some of the needs of the home however could be supported in assistance with roof repairs and supplies. The roof is leaking in one area of the home that has now caused mold in the specific bedroom. The Department is not aware of the severity of the repair therefore is unaware of exact cost that would be necessary.

The department recently gained Permanent Managing Conservatorship of a child. She is 15 and usually a happy child, but the reality of being in care is being to weigh on this child. She is having a horrible time understanding why she is not able to go home to her family. To help boost her confidence, her placement and I are working together to take her on outings and most of all, keep our word when we tell her we are going to take her somewhere, we are following through. I am able to take her out to eat or shopping occasionally, but the placement is staffed facility without an outing budget. A staff member would like to take her on weekly outings as reward for good behavior and to show her that she has people in her corner. Any denomination gift cards to places like Raising Canes, Wal-Mart, McDonald's, and other places teenagers eat and shop would be greatly appreciated so she get out of the facility and have a normal teenage life.
Bedford DSS is currently working with a grandmother who is the custodian of two of her grandchildren (boys) ages 14 and 12. The grandmother is currently working towards getting custody of her granddaughter (7) who is currently placed with her at this time. The grandmother is in need of support due to making accommodations for her granddaughter to reside with her, in addition to balancing all of the children's needs with one income. The family would benefit from some extra furniture pieces to assist with storage for the family's belongings as well as clothing as all of the children are in the stage of changing various sizes due to their growth spurts. The grandmother would also benefit form the support of supplying laundry detergent, etc. (grandmother has to go to the laundry mat which has been costly due to the increase of clothes needing to be washed) and household cleaning supplies so her income can be directed towards utilities, gas and food. Sizes and household needs are listed below:
14 yo male child: Men's large in shirts and pants, size 11 shoe.
12yo male child: 18/20 boys, men's small in shirts and pants, size 8 shoe
7yo female child: 10/12 girls (in need of PJs), size 3.5-4 shoe
Tall dresser or cabinet
Twin bed sheets
Queen bed sheets
Household necessities to include laundry detergent, cleaning supplies

We have had some children who came into foster care, with a relative who is willing to be placement; however, relative is in need of two twin beds for the two school age children and a toddler bed for the youngest child in order to have appropriate sleeping spaces for them.
