I have a 15 year old foster child on my caseload who currently has braces but has been unable to get the brackets replaced and be seen by the orthodontist as her step-mother has not been financially able to make the monthly payment. The 15 year old's braces were put on in 2020 when she was residing with her biological father and step-mother. Since coming into care with three of her siblings (there are 5 kids total- one is not in care), the step-mother has not been able to pay the monthly bill due to other priorities (rent, utilities, food, gas, after school programs, sports, etc). The step-mother is employed full time but still does not have the finances to get caught up on the 15 year old's braces. Assistance for the braces is greatly needed as the 15 year old's is starting to struggle with the lack of services required to maintain her braces. I do have the billing from the orthodontist office for verification of pricing. To get the plan re-open, the cost will be $500. To pay off the total amount for the braces and receive current maintenance for the braces is $2300.00
