HMDSS is working with a family that consists of six children and their mother. There are 3 female youth ages:16, 7, and 4 and 3 male youth: 10, 11, and 4. The mother is the sole caregiver, however due to receiving kidney dialysis 3 times a week and the effects to her body afterward the treatments, she is not able to gain full-time employment. She is attempting to obtain remote employment to provide income in the home outside of her government assistance. Due to the mother’s low income, the mother hasn’t been able to purchase furniture or any of the furniture for the home and recently had her refrigerator was repossessed since she cannot make the payment. The mother stated that she has to make trips to the store throughout the day to purchase cold food items, however they are able to eat food that could be prepared in the microwave until they are able to have another refrigerator. The mother’s home is in dire need of repairs and proper A/C, however her landlord has consistently failed to not address the concerns. The family is in dire need of a window air conditioning unit, a couch, love seat, coffee table, 2 nightstands for the youth’s bedrooms, 2 twin beds, 2 night stands, 2 dressers, 2 chest of drawers.
