Family consists of Dad, Mom, and 3 children (2 enrolled in HS & a 5 year old child) who are currently living in the maternal grandmother's home (at this time they do not have their own place to stay). Maternal grandmother's home is 30 minutes away from school. Mom has been having to miss work frequently due to caring for her mother who was recently hospitalized with a major illness (on vent). The family is currently struggling with lack of dependable vehicle and fuel money to get the kids back and forth to school. Kids have missed multiple days of school (not typical for the the HS students who are involved in school activities). Mom's vehicle is not working (said her husband has replaced some new parts, but he believes now the issue may involve the engine heads - she stated this is out of his territory as far as basic mechanic work.) Currently the family is using one vehicle (that belongs to grandmother) to get kids back and forth to school, Dad to work, Mom to work and/or hospital, Dr. appts, shopping, etc. The kids have not been riding a bus to school because where the family is currently staying is not on a bus route; however, we have made arrangements beginning for next week for the kids to be able to catch a bus at a convenient store that is located relatively close to where they are currently living to be able to ride back and forth to school. Fuel cards at the present time would be greatly appreciated by the family. The car situation is understandably a large undertaking, but the family currently is able to use the grandmother's car.
