Help Preserve a Foster Care Placement

F. (age 16) and was recently diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome). She is currently in the hospital waiting for a bone marrow transplant. F is also getting chemo treatments, if MDS goes untreated it could turn into Leukemia. She is non-speaking, needs help feeding herself, and a lot of care. Her foster family is amazing (located in Riley County) and has made dozens of trips back and forth to Kansas City to be with her. They have missed multiple days of work and will continue to miss work after the transplant takes place. The foster family and F are really needing some support from the community both during the hospital stay and after. Once F gets her transplant she will remain in the hospital for up to 6 weeks and then transition to the Ronald McDonald house for another 6 weeks. We are looking for any support and welcome ideas to help this family. Currently we are asking for help for a cleaning service (for Riley Co), as the family hasn't had time or energy to maintain their home and be in KC. If anyone wants to drop off groceries, do a meal train or provide gift cards (Walmart/Dillon's) so they can purchase groceries in KC (and cook at the Ronald McDonald house) these would all be incredible ways to show this family support. Gift cards for food around the hospital would help too - Panera Bread, Subway, Chipotle etc. Anything would be a tremendous blessing to this family.

An elderly grandmother is taking care of her handicapped adult son and 3 teenage nephews and nieces because their fathers are not involved in their lives and their mother passed away in 2020. She has a lot on her plate and needs a new doorknob for her front door. On top of balancing her family, taking care of the house, dealing with her own health issues, and currently not having a working vehicle, she is unable to purchase and install a new doorknob. As a result, the family has to leave the front door slightly cracked so that they can easily come in and out of the home during the day. This is not safe for the children.

High Urgency Request
We are currently working with a young lady with a very high level of needs. After months of struggling to secure a placement, we located a home that has connected with the youth and wants to assist with her care. This youth is extremely connected to her biological father who is in poor health and it is imperative that regular visits occur for her to be stable in any placement type. The current foster parent is willing to assist with transportation to and from visits with biological father (we will have a worker rotation as well), but does not have current car insurance and this is required to transport custody youth. The youth's father is also approximately two hours away from her placement, so any assistance with gas cards would be much appreciated. Foster parents can apply for reimbursement for mileage, but some assistance up front to pay for gas would be very helpful! Thank you so much for your consideration!

High Urgency Request
A sibling set of four kids (ages 15, 13, 11 and 9) will be moving to their foster to adopt home by the end of this month. The family has purchased beds, clothes and sports equipment for the children, including uniform shirts for oldest brother, who has a job. Everyone is so excited for the children to stay together and move into their future forever home. Foster parents have stretched finances thin in order to quickly obtain all the items in anticipation of these kiddos coming. The last missing items they need help with is a dresser for each child. They have been looking locally for reasonably priced dressers and buy/sell/trade sites, and but haven't had any luck. This family of two, soon to be a family of six would be so grateful and blessed to receive any assistance with obtaining dressers for the kids. Thank you in advance for your consideration, God Bless!
