Employed parent had just purchased a vehicle and it was stolen. Parent is now in need of assistance purchasing an electric scooter. Parent only has enough for rent, food, essentials, and bills since parent's savings went to the vehicle that was stolen and still hasn't been located. Providing financial assistance to purchase the electric scoter would make it easier for parent to get from one bus stop to another to her court ordered services weekly, without making parent late to work and having the chance to get fired. With parent complying with case plan, this will move parent's case closer to reunification with children.

One of my most beloved clients, a beautiful, vibrant, brilliant young foster youth, aged 20, passed away on January 17th. Her sister, who is also a former foster youth, is in charge of planning the funeral services - and is truly struggling for funds. Her sister is an incredible young woman, who has helped raise her own siblings. Her sister is getting some assistance from DCFS, and have set up a gofundme - but they are still not able to afford the burial and service. Any assistance would be appreciated. If you are even willing to circulate the gofundme, that would also help.

Mother has three children that have been returned to her care. The mother is in process of moving into a better home for her family but unfortunately her home was broken into and everything in the home was stolen. The mother is devastated and at the bare minimum needs a stove. If this family is blessed with a stove, it will allow the mother to prepare hot meals for the family providing and maintain reunification. Thank you.

I am a Social Services Worker III for Tulare County Child Welfare Services. I currently have a relative resource parent (foster parent) on my caseload who relocated from Humboldt County to Los Angeles County and is unable to pass the resource family approval licensing in Los Angeles County due to not having appropriate mattresses for the children. The children in his care consist of a three (3) year old male and a one (1) year old female. Since they relocating to Los Angeles County, the relative resource parent has not received any foster care funding due to not having his home/license approved and is experiencing a financial hardship at this time, thus making it difficult for him to purchase the items needed for the children. Assisting the relative resource parent with appropriate mattresses (crib, twin) would help to ensure the approval of his foster care license, as well as, avoid any placement disruption for the children in his care. Thank you for your consideration and efforts in this matter.

There is parent that is in need of Dining table, High Chair, Children’s Table with Chairs (suitable for a 5 y/o to utilize for homework, read, and write), clothing for a baby boy currently wearing size 12 months and size 3 in shoes, and 5 y/o boy currently wearing size 5 and size 10 in shoes. While she is able to provide necessities of the children, she has tried to provide the requested items individually but has not been successful. Although the parent is having these challenges, she is committed to maintaining their new household/family dynamic without the support of her former partner, as she does not want to place her children in a dangerous, tumultuous, and traumatic environment. During my work with the parent, I have identified the following strengths: the mother is resilient, nurturing, and protective of her children. For these reasons and more, I am advocating for the parent to have the needs identified met. Having these needs met will provide a safe environment for the children, enhance the children’s emotional, physical, and educational well-being, and improve parental capacity. If the needs are not met, the baby won’t have a safe space to eat meals, the child will have to do his homework on the floor, and the family will have to eat standing, on the floor, or one at a time on the only safely functioning chair their current dining set has. Lastly, the children are of age where they are growing at a rapid rate and will outgrow their current clothing.

This powerful young lady was recently united with a group home after being rescued from her trafficker (who also happened to be her biological mother). She is currently working part time to support herself and to get stable, while making efforts to stay out of the life. In order to help her continue her recovery, her team is asking for help to pay just half of her anger management classes! She is working towards a better life despite her previous challenges, and is saving money to pay the other portion of the cost as a way to hold herself accountable and exercise financial responsibility.

We have a wonderful young boy who comes from a single parent home who is having extreme financial issues. Volleyball season has just started and our student has been going to practice with non athletic shoes and has been slipping and falling trying to practice. When I met with the student he said his mom cannot afford to buy him any other shoes but, he has an old pair that are too small but, he will try and use them so he can play. He needs a pair of shoes that he can use to play, run and be safe in. He is a size 9. I asked him what kind of shoes he would like and he said "ANY" kind he would be so thankful for. We are in need of either a gift card or if someone can get him a pair of athletic shoes for Volleyball.

The youth has aged out and currently living on her own going to school and working part-time to make ends meet. Youth will benefit from a food card for groceries, and an Uber card to get to her appointments, Youth also needs some furniture items and household items that at the moment she cannot afford. I am writing to request your assistance in supporting a single grandmother who is experiencing homelessness and is the primary caregiver for a child with special needs. The family is in dire need of support with gas cards ($50 x 4) to help them travel to medical appointments and are also in need of support with paying for a storage unit ($450) to store their belongings while they search for a permanent residence. The grandmother is disabled and has been struggling to make ends meet since her husband left and is now faced with the added challenge of caring for her grandchild who has special needs. Despite her best efforts, she has been unable to find stable housing and is now experiencing homelessness. The child has frequent medical appointments and therapies that require travel, and the family is in need of gas cards to help cover the costs of transportation. Additionally, they have been forced to place their belongings in a storage unit, but are struggling to pay for the monthly fees. I am confident that your support will make a significant difference in the lives of this grandmother and her grandchild. Your assistance will help provide them with the stability and security they need to begin rebuilding their lives. Thank you for your time and consideration.
