Mother has 7 children and has secured better housing in a better location still within the school district. This home is bigger so the children can have rooms. Mother has recently started working full time and the two smallest children are in daycare. The deposit on the new home is 2000.00. Mom has come up with 900.00 of the deposit needed to move in. DSS is asking for any help with meeting the remainder or helping with 500 of the deposit. Mom has indicated that the Landlord will break down the payment if she comes up with majority, but this could be a hardship in trying to pay rent and the added amount. Thanks so much Updated on November 13, 2023 by an Agency Worker

A mother whose 2-year-old child is in a kinship foster placement is working on services to be able to have custody returned to her. She has been very proactive with completing services and has gotten a job. Due to circumstances that led to the child's entry into foster care, the mother has been staying at a local domestic violence shelter for the past several months. Her length of stay is coming to an end and she is searching for permanent housing. A major barrier for her is lack of transportation. Most of the possible housing options are not within walking distance from work. She needs a vehicle or financial assistance toward obtaining a vehicle. She has her license and would be willing to work on a payment plan as opposed to or in addition to a donation. Having transportation would help her in maintaining work, expanding her housing possibilities, and having transportation for herself and her child to services and appointments.

Hello Careportal, I am working with a large family of 7. Mom and Dad, a girl aged 13, a set of twin boys aged 10, a boy aged 7, and a little boy aged 1. The parents have overcome so much; they now abstain completely from alcohol, they have started their own business by selling government phones to other low-income people, and have completed services and are beginning the transition to bring all 5 children home. There was a house fire a year ago and they lost a lot. The children have not been home since and they have not yet been able to replace the beds for the children or kitchen table where they can all eat together. I am asking for assistance in making the children's transition home as smooth and painless as possible and leave this family better than we found them, Careportal is always instrumental in that piece. I know it's a large request and I checked prices of items at walmart to be sure of the lowest price points possible. Thank you so much for all you do!

A family of (3) young boys, mom, and their step-father is in need of maintenance assistance with fixing a window inside the home and the screen door. The window inside of the children's bedroom is broken, leaving the room open to the elements. As a result, the (3) boys are currently sleeping in the living room and have not been able to use their bedroom in over a year. The mother has attempted to contact the property manager multiple times over the last year and they won't fix it. The solution they provided was putting a piece of plastic over the window, which does not stay over the window opening. Mom has also contacted the property manager about the screen door that fell off the hinges, but they have not fixed that either.

Caretaker is a family friend that has taken on the child who is a 17 year old female. The caretaker's husband passed away last year which has created some stress for her. At this time the home is in a state of disarray that is embarrassing to the family which contributes to unhealthy coping methods. The family is in desperate need of healthy connections and would also benefit from help cleaning the home. This would likely include taking things to the dump as well as physically cleaning the home.

Please consider providing a family with a few items to help them get through some difficult times. The family could use some trash cans to keep around their house to help maintain cleanliness. They could also use some dressers so that they can organize their clothes. The teenage daughter is running low on clothes as well. She wears a size 3X and size 20 in jeans. Her shoe size is 9 1/2. The mother is currently out of work due to health issues and therefore does not have the money to afford these things. Please reach out to FSS Carroll with any request responses or questions as I will be out of the office for an extended period of time. The family is living in rental property. The refrigerator that she owned stopped working in April of 2023. She has been using a mini fridge. She moved into a new rental property that did not come with a stove and refrigerator. She is using microwave to prepare meals. Having the proper appliances to store and prepare meals would ensure the family receives the best nutritional value in food prep and safety in food storage.

The family recently moved to the area due to the father's job being transferred. They initially struggled with finding adequate housing and the child was enrolled in school as a homeless student due to the family living in a hotel. The family has secured housing and the child has begun school. They have a small refrigerator that does not hold many items. At this time they do not have everything they need and are requesting a larger refrigerator to have fruits, vegetables, milk, meat, and other perishable foods on hand for the child, which they cannot do currently.

I have been working with this family for a variety of issues. Single mother has 7 children of her own under the age of 18. The father of the children has been incarcerated for years. This mom has worked one-two jobs for the majority of her adult life. This mom is a CNA. She is in charge of providing for all her children, and her grandchild. This mom does have family support in town and does ask them for help here and there. The Department at one point also helped her pay some of her past due bills. Mom is trying to secure a new home that is in her budget, but is finding it difficult to secure a deposit, when she has to provide for the rest of her household. One of her children are participating in services, she is involved with the courts and is doing her best to complete her services. The mom has applied for section 8, public housing, income related housing and is stuck on how to secure housing moving forth. THIS MOM has struggled paying her landlord, but also has complained that the landlord has not kept their part, because there is always something that needs constant fixing in the house. The mom has also gotten in touch with code enforcement a few times. Mom is overwhelmed about housing and keeping up. Mom needs community support. Mom has seen a house that is in her budget, but the deposit is too high, and she cannot afford to pay it. Anyone can support mom, help with the deposit?
