OKDHS wants to ensure the minor child has access to resources while living in transitional care between again out and the January start date. Request for prepaid cell phone minutes, gift card for meals, funding for Driver's License (eligible to obtain at 18), and to ensure child can report to Job Corps in January.

Biological parent in need of assistance obtaining reliable communication (prepaid phone), a state ID/Driver's License, and transport assistance for services. Parent is in need of these items in order to obtain employment. Parent has unsuccessfully interviewed with multiple employers since OKDHS intervention as these barriers continue to present themselves (Parent has been offered positions only to learn they do not have the proper records to provide their perspective employers). Parent has engaged in services prior to development of treatment plan and appears highly motivated to reunify with their children. Even limited to WiFi texting applications and/or email on WiFi for communication, the parent has maintained contact with the department. Parent has walked to services due to limits on transportation. "Bus Pass" requested funds can be used to purchase Pelivan tickets which operates within Claremore City Limits. Tickets are "one-way". $30 will allow for 5 round trips (10 one-way tickets). Worker is requesting gift card for "Lyft" as they operate in the Claremore area and can offer outside of city limits transport and do not have schedule limitations like Pelivan. Pelivan charges $2 per mile outside city limits which will add up and stops service at 4:30p on weekdays. Pelivan also requires 24-hour scheduling whereas Lyft can be ordered anytime the need is present.
I am working with a young single mother and her two very young children. The mother is currently enrolled in school full time and is working full time as well. She is the sole earner of her family and has minimal outside financial support. She has overcame a lot in the last year on her own to better her and her children's life. She recently told that she is stressed out due to being short 200 dollars on rent. She said she has reached out to resources in her community for assistance but has not been able to find the financial support. If you feel you are able to help out this mother and her children with any amount of the $200 of the rest of rent please reach out as soon as you can. Thank you for your help with lifting this family up!
Foster/Adoptive family in need of financial assistance to schedule professional carpet cleaning for four rooms in a duplex. The two year old in the home has been removing his diaper at night and urinating in the floor. They have been using store bought sprays and a carpet shampooer but would like professionals to help clean the remainder as well as the rest of the home.
The foster parent is in need of a stroller for her 3 year old foster child. She requested one through fostering connections and was told they do not have any strollers at this time. The foster mom would like to take the children on vacation and it would be helpful if she had a stroller for the 3 year old to use during various activities. The foster mom would be happy to get a used stroller as well does not have to be brand new.
Foster parents are needing assistance with a repair bill within the home. Foster parents are potty training 2 of 3 children who like to sneak away and flush items down the toilet. They have previously paid out $1300 for this repair, and are needing help with the remainder. The final bill is $566. This foster home does a ton for our kids and this unforeseen issue has taken them by surprise financially. The Department has received a copy of the final bill and the amount could be paid directory to the vendor. Anything would help at this time. Updated on October 25, 2022 by an Agency Worker Total amount remaining to assist this need as of 9:30am 10/25/2022 is $366.
A mother of 4 is in need of help. They had escaped and fled a domestic violence situation. They found refuge in a shelter. Now, mom has been able to obtain housing! She's worked very hard and will be able to have a home for her and her children. Providing furnishings for this family will allow them to be together. It will create unity in the family dynamic between a mother and her kids. While she had some things in storage, she does need a few items that need replaced.
