Family identified through Douglas County Prevention work is facing eviction and homelessness. The family is needing to focus their current income on housing and transportation costs. The 11 year old child in the home is in need of some new clothing, shoes and socks. He is a size 10/12 and needs pants, shirts and socks for children's size 6+. He needs some new shoes as well at least a size 6. The family could also use some food resources, including gift cards for groceries. They will be connected by myself to local food banks and community resources, including our family center as well. Gift cards for clothing so he could pick items out would be greatly appreciated.

Heather:
We can put together clothes for the young male. I need clarification on size. Is it 10/12. Or 6? I can have those ready Monday afternoon and drop or a social worker could shop for the child

4 year old little boy is currently in foster care and has been since December. A kinship placement has recently been located and placement will occur in the near future. This kinship provider is in need of some items to prepare for a smooth placement transition to care for this child. There is another child in the home, so a bunk bed is needed. He is need of a safe sleep space in order for him to transition to this kinship placement. Bunk bed frame, mattresses and box springs if the bed frame requires are needed. This kinship provider would be open to a bed being purchased and delivered directly to her or any new or gently used that CarePortal responders may have on hand.

Family has a very high needs child who is diagnosed with Angelman's Syndrome. Child is unable to communicate, walk, or care for himself. Mother is a single mother and father is believed to be totally uninvolved. Child's teenage and adult siblings help to care for him while mother works a night job. Family is overwhelmed and experiencing significant financial stress. They recently moved to Colorado from rural Nebraska to have access to more and better services for the child. Due to child's inability to control bodily functions, family needs a leather type couch and loveseat, or sectional, that can be easily cleaned. They currently have no furniture to sit on while sharing time together watching movies, television, or socializing in their living room. Used or new would be acceptable, just something in good shape. Estimated cost based on new, but could be more or less.

Maternal grandparents are caring for their grandchildren. They were previously living with parents, but when it became unsafe, grandparents left the home with the children. They were previously living with friends while they were in the process of renting a home. The family is low income and grandmother has a disability and unable to work. The family is looking for a wonderful individual who may have a few dressers they would like to donate or a toddler bed that their child may have grown out of. Due to the young ages of the children, rugs would also be great to help keep the carpet clean.

Mom and dad who are new parents, their son is about two months old. They have been working hard to reunify with him and have recently been approved for a new apartment which will be safe and big enough for all of them. Mom is still out of work as she needs time to adjust to her treatment needs and dad only recently got a job in January. They are working to save money and pay off bills as they come.
What is being asked is any furniture donations to help them settle into their new home and to help avoid the cost of buying all new items. Prior to this, parents were sleeping on a mattress at dad's family's home. Anything would be very appricated!

I am currently working with a family who has experienced sexual abuse from another family member. The family struggles with mental health and autism. The family has been accepted into a new housing unit and they are in desperate need of a few items as they are working on packing things up. The family is struggling financially as their primary money maker is no longer in the home. The family would be greatly appreciated to receive a few items to put into their new apartment. This family has been struggling for so long and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Tall thin dresser for clothing. (new apartment is small, wide furniture will take up too much space)
2. Vacuum
3. Couch with pull out bed. (The apartment has two bedrooms with four people, having a pull-out couch will full help with the sleeping situation).
4. Element skateboard (11 year old girl misses being active outside) Updated on March 16, 2023 by an Agency Worker The family has informed me that they are also looking for bath towels and wash cloths. Updated on March 22, 2023 by an Agency Worker A queen mattress

We have a 10 year old girl who was recently placed with one of our foster families along with her older sister. The 10 year old is excited about the idea of riding a bike as the weather is getting warmer and loves to spend time outside. She would love to receive a 24" bike and helmet so she can spend the spring and summer time riding her bike around her neighborhood. To help make this summer extra memorable for her, we are requesting help locating a gently used or brand new 24" girls bike and helmet. Thank you!
An 8 year boy and 10 year old girl were placed with these kinship providers November 2022. The children came into the home with nothing , except for a very few personal/clothing items. The Kinship providers are applying for Social Security benefits for the children, but that process can be lengthy. Adding two children to their family of four, has increased other expenses such as food, gas, and utilities. The family is able to cover these expenses, but purchasing the children "extras" is not possible for them to do at this time. Other than the bike helmets and the girls' sneakers, the items can be gently used as well. The girl wears a size 1.5 to size 2 sneaker, but a gift card to somewhere like Famous Footwear would allow her to pick her own.

Parents were unaware of pregnancy until mother went into labor at the end of January. Family support has filled in most items they need for the baby, but they are in need of a bottle warmer. Family is residing in the basement of another family member, and it is time consuming to go upstairs each time the newborn needs a bottle warmed, especially in the night when he wakes. Caseworker can send a link to the item, or a gift card to Walmart or Amazon would be appreciated for the family to purchase the item.

Father, grandmother, and two children reside together. Father had shotguns and handguns out of the home while he moved homes, but now that he is settled, he has the firearms back into his home but does not have a safe for them. Father is needing a large safe for shotguns so he can put both his long guns and hand guns into that safe to keep the children safe.

A single grandmother is caring for her 8 and 14 year old grandsons, and due to increased expenses in food, utilities, gas, clothing, etc., the family is in need of additional financial support. The children came with very few clothing items, many of which were ill-fitting. The 8 year old wears a kids size 8 to 10 and a 3 shoe size. The 14 year old wears an XL adult tops, his pants size is 34 length and 34/36 waist size. His shoe size is 13.5. They are in need of sneakers, shorts, pants/sweatpants, shirts, socks and underwear. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated by this family!

A three year old was recently removed from his mother due to her ongoing homelessness and being a victim of domestic violence. She is currently driving for Uber, however, her car is having issues that she does not know how to resolve, nor does she have the money to do so. In order to keep working towards independence, gaining custody of her child back, she needs to continue to be able to work. She lost her 17 year old daughter in 2021 when a drunk driver hit her while driving -- all of her daughters belonging remain in a storage unit. Without sufficient income, she will not be able to continue paying for her storage unit and get a place of her own. We are requesting someone with car knowledge, or ability to financially help, look at her car and help resolve the issue. Due to not knowing what is wrong, it is unknown what the current cost would be. I put $200 as that may be possibly the cost to diagnose the car, but I am unsure.

Grandparents have four and one year old boys placed in their care, and they are working towards foster care certification. As part of the certification process, the adults' need to be First Aid/CPR certified. Although there is a discount for them to enroll in this class, with the additional expenses of parenting two young children, the family is just meeting the necessity of their family.

The 8 year old has never been in school, therefore the family will also need assistance in purchasing basic items and clothing for school. Any form of gift card assistance will be helpful.
