Mom is about to have two of her sons come home and needs financial assistance and furniture. She was recently reunited with one son and will be reunited with the other two soon. The boys are teen and tweens and are soooo excited to go home and live with mom and each other as the brothers have been separated for several years. Mom just moved into a new apartment and is in need of furniture and help with her first months rent. Items needed are two sets of bunk beds, living room furniture, dishes, kitchen table and chairs and twin bedding. These items will help Mom be able to provide a safe, stable and comfortable environment for the family to be together. If you can help this family with ANY part of this request, including partial rental assistance, it would be greatly appreciated by the family and child welfare!

Help Preserve a Foster Care Placement

I have two foster parents who have requested a few items for their kinship foster son who is 5 years old. First, they would like a "door guard" type lock that they can install on their front and back door so their foster son cannot get out of their home when they are sleeping. They want to put it up high on the door, out of reach. Second, their foster son has never had a bike. The kids in the neighborhood are riding bikes and he has said he would like a bike (with training wheels of course). Third, this child has had some behavior problems and has been unable to attend preschool. The foster parents are wanting some learning materials such as educational workbooks/manipulatives to work with their foster son in order to prepare him for Kindergarten. He is needing to learn his letters and sounds and other basic Kindergarten skills. Thank you so much in advance for helping this family. They are really doing their best trying to help their foster son.

This young couple has made so much progress in a very short time. They have overcome many obstacles but are determined to create a better life for themselves and for their 2 young sons. Neither has a high school education. He is working full time and she has signed up for CNA training. Before involvement with OHS, they were both working to obtain their GED, realizing the benefit of at least having a high school education for their job prospects and their future. They need a laptop computer. It doesn't have to be new, or have tons of power and memory; it just needs to get them through their online classes. Any help in providing this need would be greatly appreciated.

This mother recently had a son two months ago who is now residing with the father's cousin. Due to the long commute and limited gas funds, she is not able to frequently visit their son in the home which has discouraged her greatly since the cousin lives in another city 45 minutes away. Her and the bio father both have separate family time visits with their child due to safety concerns which has created another transportation barrier since they both cannot ride together. This mother was previously visiting with her son at the DHS office twice a week, but she was not able to truly connect and bond with her son outside of the home-like setting that is provided at the paternal cousin's home. The mother mentioned that she would love to visit with her son in the home she resides at since she feels a lot more comfortable and less restricted. She also expressed that when she does have enough gas to drive and visit her son on the weekends and after work hours which fits better into her daily/work schedule. She is scheduled to visit sometime this week and would greatly appreciate any assistance offered to help see her son more frequently in a home-like setting and would greatly appreciate any assistance offered.

Hello, I am more than happy to speak on behalf of a mother who has done so well to move out of an unsafe environment and into a safe and stable home. This mother is making huge strides and could use some help in this new start. Single mother of 5 children is in need of everything to start up a new home. It was recommended by DHS she leave everything behind for the health and wellness of the family. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! The family needs the household items listed below. Thank you for everything you do. You are greatly appreciated! If you have anything beyond the list she would be more than happy with any household items.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement

Loving Kinship placement is needing gas and food card help for two reasons, they are needing to be at court in Antlers OK, and they would like to assist in helping with some visits with mom who lives in Antlers. Gas cards that work in the Antlers area are Shell, mainly or Choctaw, or just a prepaid card of some sort. Feeding a family of four on the road is not easy but being able to eat at McDonald’s, Subway, or Sonic would also be greatly appreciated. This Kinship is trying hard to work with the deep traumas and issues the children have faced and they are working to bridge all that they can at this time. However, they are not a paid placement yet and they have been receiving no help whatsoever. They are unable to assist in any of this without some help. Thank you so much in advance for praying and looking over this family’s need!

This single mother has just moved into her apartment and is in need of furniture assistance, specifically a small dining table with four chairs. This single mother is very creative and she was able to provide a unique decorative environment for her children. This single mother requested assistance for a dining room table to be able to sit down with her children to eat together as a family. Please help us strengthen this family by providing the above requested items. We want to help this mother make memories for her children as they gather together to eat meals. This request is to help furnish a dining area (table and chairs) and for a window AC unit. This single mom began trial reunification in April and has worked hard to prepare her life and home for the children to return. She was able to get her own apartment and all of the essentials for her children, but needs help with these extra items. A dining area would give the family a place to come together in the evenings to eat, work on school, and share time together. The weather is getting warmer as we get closer to the summer and AC unit in the children's bedrooms would help them stay cool and comfortable. Any help on this request would be appreciated.

Hello! We are asking you to please help a foster mom by providing her with a tandem double stroller and two twin beds for her foster children. This foster mom is a kinship home who has stepped in to provide care while the parents of the children work to get their lives back on track. The foster mom has been able to get together most items for the two boys but could really benefit from having a tandem double stroller to use for both children and for them to each have their own beds as they are currently sharing. This would provide them safe sleeping arrangements and make outings much easier and safer. She is asking for the double stroller to be tandem as opposed to side by side. She would be grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you for your generosity.

A family was involved in an automobile wreck and is no longer able to use the car seat and booster seat for their 2- and 6-year-old children. Accidents can weaken the plastic in a car seat, and may not properly protect the child in a subsequent crash. Family currently in need of assistance with Metro PC cell phone bill. The parents have started services prior to a treatment plan having been created. The department is assisting the family with locating access to resources to help provide the family with some financial relief. The family has reported they are needing assistance with the cell phone bill, in the amount of $50. The parents currently have frequent family time sessions as they have been able to identify appropriate parties to help supervise visitation. The family requires the phone for contact in regard to visitation, case management, service provider communication, and several other reasons. The family currently consists of 3 young children, all under the age of 4. One of the children has a medical condition requiring frequent doctor appointments. The department would also like to request assistance in the form of a gas/gift card to help the parents with fuel costs. The parents participate in frequent family time visitation as mentioned about, however, they are also actively participating in medical appointments with the children which adds to the family's fuel costs. Any assistance that could be provided for the family would be greatly appreciated. Previous request was not fulfilled.

Oklahoma Human Services (OHS) is currently working with a single mother who has been worked hard to overcome many changes and OHS is wanting to start trail reunification in the home. Though being able to drive is not a requirement, being able to transport herself and her child will definitely make things easier and allow more opportunities for growth as a family. This mother had her license suspended due to past mistakes, and is now attempting to get her provisional license to get her driving rights back. In order to do so she must first get an Alcohol and Drug Substance Abuse Course (ADSAC) assessment done witch costs $160 and needs payed to Human Skills and Resources on her behalf as well, as a $340 fee to the Department of Public Safety. If you are able to assist, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a case with a child that has special needs and goes to multiple doctors appointments bi-weekly. With that it puts a lot of hard times financially on the placement from gas, electricity with the medical equipment, and just mentally. The child is only 12 years old and has a trach, breathing machine, and cannot walk or talk, so there is an extensive amount of time and effort that goes to helping the child. A gas card for the amount of appointments that are needed for this child would help the family immensely.
