I am working with a family that lost a lot of their household items due to a bed bug infestation. There are 4 children and two adults living in a two-bedroom apartment. Currently, the children's clothing is on the floor in their closet, and it is difficult for them to locate items that they need. The children's mother has some mental health concerns that she is working to address. Therefore, updating their space and improving the conditions that her children are living in will help boost the overall morale of the home. Thank you so much for any and all help that you can provide. The family is enthusiastically open to second-hand and pre-loved items. Small laundry baskets, bookshelves, and any small storage items would also be helpful. One of the older children has asthma and has a difficult time keeping up with their siblings. Single mom needing pull ups and rubber sheets for two twin beds. Two of the children continue to wet the bed at night and teachers are reporting the children smell of urine when at school. All four children sleep in the beds together so both mattresses need to be covered. Mom just lost her job, so money is an issue at this time to get the items.

A mother that has recently reunified with her daughters just had her lights turned off and needs assistance with getting her electricity turned back on. Thankfully her heat is powered by natural gas, but she and the kids need to be able to use power to cook and do homework. Mom is struggling to figure out how to turn on her lights and pay rent for December, when her next pay check doesn't come until 12/10. Any assistance for this family would be greatly appreciated. With it being winter and the holidays, most assistance options have been pretty well exhausted.

A relative family has taken in a sibling group of three, ages 9, 10 and 12 as their pre-adoptive resource. The mentioned family member, a relative to these three kids, moved from the State of Washington two summers ago to adopt her nieces and nephew. The sibling group have been in care for over five years and have finally gained a sense of permanency in the near future with their family. With the household expanding to seven members, the mentioned family is financially struggling with putting food on the table to feed all of their children. We kindly request any donations that may help this family provide groceries, especially with the holidays quickly approaching.

DCCCA is currently working with two teen mothers who are in critical need of baby monitors. One of them has a 13-day old, beautiful baby and she is a teen mom that could benefit from having a monitor to effectively care and attend to her sweet baby girl. Unfortunately, this teen mom is a migrant who came with no family and has no support. Our second momma has multiple babies who are in need of constant monitoring as they are now fast and tend to wander around. Keeping them safe is important and necessary. A family who Clay County Children's Division is helping is in need of a Spire payment to be met. Family has been dealing with job issues and being cut hours and lay offs. They have been unable to make their Spire bill- they have attempted to make half payments so they could get their hot water turned back on and they have been declined. They have to make all $545 to be able to get their hot water turned back on. Being able to turn the hot water on again will help the family in many ways. Children and family are having to brush teeth with very cold water, showering with very cold water, etc.

Grandmother caring for her 3 grandchildren ages 4, 4 & 6 years old. The family has a bunk bed frame but is in need of 2 twin sized mattress/box spring, mattress protector, sheets, pillow & comforter/blanket. They also need a bedrail for the top bunk bed. A student needs an Uber gift card to get to NCC when PHS is not in session. When school is not in session, students are still expected to attend NCC. Due to this student not having transportation to get to NCC, they are being penalized for their attendance. This student is in a family with a single mother who cannot transport this student. An Uber Gift Card would assist him in getting to and from NCC and in turn would improve his attendance.

A 15-year-old male living with a kinship family walks to school every day. With the change in temperatures and winter coming he is in need of a pair of snow boots. He wears a size 15 so these are hard to find in-store and more expensive than a typical pair of boots. Kinship placement, Grandpa & Great Aunt are caring for 2 young children in their family. The home has cockroaches and desperately needs to be treated. The family is strapped for money and is unable to pay for the treatment. The family has gotten a quote from a pest control company for an initial treatment that would cost $350. They would need to follow up with additional treatments but any help to get them started would be appreciated. J.H. is placed in the home of a relative on the Kansas/Missouri Border Agreement ICPC. The family has been doing their best to provide everything J.H. needs, although due to J.H.'s level of care needed, she has been forced to take time off work. J.H. is in need of a new bed frame and bedding essentials. She could additionally use a dresser.

This is a sibling set of 4 girls ages 5-16. Mom has worked had to get an apartment after being homeless for sometime and is working to get her girls back home to her. Mom has just secured an apartment but will need a bunk bed and a dresser for 2 of the girls.

A bio dad that recently found out he had a son, and is going to soon reintegrate the 1 year old home to him. Dad has never had a baby before and needs some basic items to get his son home to him. Dad did not know about his son and was not expecting a baby to come live with him and so soon. So any and all baby items are needed.

An 11 year old girl with extensive trauma history needs a new twin bed and dresser. She currently does not have any dresser at all due to her breaking it. Her current bed is a metal bunk bed which she is scared to sleep in as it only has a top bunk, so is sleeping on the floor. Her current bed is also very wobbly and bent due to the child damaging it during outbursts or fits. Placement is requesting a captains twin bed which has drawers underneath the bed. This is so the child feels safe and knows no one can be under the bed, and so she doesn't hoard food under the bed. Placement requests that both the bed and dresser are wooden and sturdy.

This youth is extremely motivated and has set high goals for herself. She wants to accomplish many things in her life despite the trauma she has been through in such a short span of her life. She is dedicated to her education and has already been accepted into KU in the Pre-Med program. While going to school and working on college courses, she has also been taking welding classes to complete the program and obtain her certification. She wants to be able to support herself with a career while going to college. We are asking for any support that can help us achieve paying this bill for her so that she can continue working on her goals to better herself. This request is being made for strong, loving, single parent who is unfortunately, stuck in the reoccurring cycle that many people are facing with homelessness. However, the obstacle that this mother is facing are some that she cannot control. This mother was diagnosed with a debilitating disease called Scleroderma at the age of 14. Scleroderma involves the hardening and tightening of the skin which causes severe pain. The doctors gave her two years to live, but here she is 20+ years later, killing it. When this mother was at the hospital at the age of 14 finding out that she had this disease, her own mother abandoned here, leaving her at the hospital, and this mother was placed in the custody of the state. She eventually aged out of the system but this disease has left her disabled and has never been able to work. She receives about $700 from SSI and that was all she received to take care of herself and her two sons. She was able to rent a home, but due to her illness, she was admitted into the hospital and was there for months. During that time, she lost the home because she could not pay rent and the landlord took her to court and she was ordered to pay the landlord over $3000 in restitution. When making very limited income and taking care of herself and her two sons, it is nearly impossible for her to save any money. The only reason preventing her 11 year old son from reintegrating home with her is because she doesn't have stable housing.

I work with a family who has been struggling to make ends meet this year. She is a single mother who works in education and is struggling with her car payment and is in danger of losing the car. She owes $630.00 at this time but any portion of that amount would help. Without the car her children could lose access to attending school due to bus issues in our area and driving them is the only option at this time. Any help would help her get closer to getting caught up on this bill.

Young adult still in foster care is close to exiting foster care by emancipation. He has a long-term home and has moved in. However, he only has an old mattress and no bed frame. He has broken his past bed frame as he rocks in his sleep at night, a result from past trauma. Requesting a new mattress and bed frame for this young man as he transitions to the rest of his life so he can have a more comfortable sleeping arrangement in his room and also a rug to go under the bed frame to prevent scratching the floor when he rocks at night during sleep.

Large family consisting of 7 children, is in need of financial resources. Two of the seven children are medically fragile infants (twins) as they were born prematurely. One of the babies has not been home in its nearly year long lifespan, and the other has been hospitalized multiple times. Any contributions will be used to help the family pay for rent and utilities.
