Hello! We have a family in need of assistance with rent as soon as possible. They are past due on their rent for January in the amount of $550. The family had their baby earlier than expected, but dad has continued to work and mom returned to work 9 days after having the baby. They are working very hard to adapt to life with a new baby and get caught up on their bills. The family and the case manager has contacted several resources, but none had the funds available to help. If anyone is able to help with the full amount or even a portion of the amount, please reach out.
A 18 year old non-minor court dependent is currently working and attending school at Mt. Sac with the goal of transferring to a four-year college in two years. The youth is goal oriented and motivated. The youth is currently in a transitional housing (THP) program placement and doing well. The youth lacks family support to meet his goals and relies on DCFS and his THP program for support. Youth's current bicycle has broken down several times and is now not operable. Youth is in need of an electrical bicycle to help him get to work and school, specifically during after bus hours. Youth would greatly appreciate if a donation can be made to help purchase the electronic bicycle found on Amazon to help support the transportation need.

Father and teen daughter just moved into area from Atlanta due to domestic violence. The teen daughter came from Atlanta pregnant and baby was just born this week. Father and daughter have been living with a friend until this week the father has secured a apartment for he and teen daughter. The father and teen daughter are in need of queen size beds. These beds are most urgent and other furnishings are secondary.
Thank you for considering. Father is also requesting dishes and kitchen furnishings. Workers know that family has no furniture except clothes they came to Kansas with.
I am a case manager for our Gang Reduction & Youth Development program (GRYD) working with youth ages 10 – 15 years old. I am currently working with a family of 6, primarily with one youth who is actively involved in our pro-social activities by attending Baking Class, Gaming, and Photography. Family is very consistent in attending meetings and participating in community events. Youth is an 8th grade attending Pacoima Middle school and in the Cadets program, soon to graduate to enter high school. The youth that I work with shared a bunk bed with his older brother, but unfortunately because of wear and tear the bed broke and fell apart. The family kept the bottom mattress and the brothers take turn sleeping on the bed and on the living room couch. Youth is in need of a queen size bed that he can share with his brother. Youth is too tall and big to fit in a twin bed and because the amount of space available youth and brother would benefit from sharing a queen size bed. This gift will not only directly help the youth I am working with, but also his brother and will alleviate the family from stress and worry of not being able to financially provide a bed for their sons. Both siblings will be able to get a restful night of good sleep, it will promote more energy for the following day at school which will help them stay awake and focus in class.

A single aunt is willing and able to be placement to her 4 year old and 5 month old nieces after her mother gave notice on being placement due to some health issues, however she is short a bed for the 4 year old. She does have 3 of her own children living in the home. In order to make the placement work temporarily, she will be having her 4 year old niece sleep in her 9 year old daughter's bed and her 9 year old will be sleeping in her room. Placement is looking for a twin size bunk bed for the 4 year old and the 9 year old as the 4 year old is tall for her age and may not fit into a toddler size bed and the 9 year old will not fit into a toddler size bed.

Kayla was not sure what she was going to do with her pregnancy when she first came to A&A. She was separated from her husband and had gotten pregnant with another FOB. That FOB promised to help with financial expenses associated with having the baby, but now that she's had the baby, he has been telling her he won’t help anymore financially if she doesn’t agree to his demands.
Kayla parents 4 children and shares custody of the first 3 with their father. She worked 2 jobs while pregnant and was able to figure out how to cover most expenses. She has been struggling with lack of income due to maternity leave, and her current job won’t give her full time hours until March. She has applied for state help but is still awaiting approval for those.
Kayla is requesting help with a past due electric bill ($215) as well as some gift cards to help her and her children. $100 in gas and $100 in grocery.

A young mother with an infant with complex medical issues is needing a mini fridge to store his life sustaining total parenteral nutrition (TPN). Having a separate mini fridge is helpful to ensuring the TPN is kept sterile, which lowers the infant's chances for potentially deadly central line infections. If possible, it would be helpful to have the fridge delivered to the family's home due to this infant currently being admitted to the hospital.

Hello CarePortal Community!
We have a family in our community who needs our support. A family of 4, including an 11-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, has reached out to our school seeking financial assistance. For about 2 months, the family has been out of power and have been creative in getting hot water and access to WIFI from close relatives. In late August, the family had a car accident, and have not been able to get it fixed- this has made it difficult for Mom to seek new employment and take the youngest daughter to a podiatrist specialist once a month. Since August, Mom has been unemployed, seeking support from family and friends; they are now at a place where they feel they have exhausted all of their resources. They are asking the community for any assistance with utility bills. Would anyone be willing to support this family?
Thank you for your time

A family has recently moved into a new home after one of the children's father was killed. The family is still grieving, and losing a source of income has forced the mom to look for other employment. She has a job opportunity that would help but does not have reliable transportation at this time to get to work. She has a bus pass, but not all work sites are on the bus line, so she is requesting an adult bike that she could use to get to and from work. Since they moved, the family is also seeking furniture for their home at this time. They are in need of dressers and a dining room table with chairs. Anything is helpful (however the bike is a priority so the mom can take the new job opportunity and earn more money for her family). I am not sure how much bike/furniture would cost so the amounts below are a rough estimate.

A single mother who is completing treatment court and starting a trial home visit is needing a crib and mattress for her son. She has a pack n play but would prefer him to sleep in a crib for safer sleep. She also needs a box spring and bed frame or a bed frame that doesn't need a box spring for her full size bed.
This family has multiple people in the household as they came together to take care of these 5 children who came into care. These 5 children's grandmother, lives with her mother and father and her other daughter who has two kids. We all joined together to make this placement work, so these children did not have to be separated. The grandmother does a lot for these children multiple doctor appointments and taking care of an infant with medical needs. The children are 10,7,4,2 and 4 months old. This family is in desperate need of a dryer if we could find one as their dryer quit working and going to the laundry mat is very expensive. They also need some help with a highchair big enough for the 2-year-old as he does need it. If they could get this help it would benefit the placement and the children.

I have a family who has been working to better their lives through Christ and hard work. A married couple have both obtained employment that require to pay $30.00 a week for transport. The family will need $60.00 today in order to pay for their transportation to and from work next week.
This is a very proactive family that is new to the area and has already obtained housing, community support, worship, and employment. They just need help until they get that first paycheck. I love this family and so would you.

A single mom of two boys needs assistance with hotel fees for four nights. She is experiencing homelessness and is awaiting housing placement. Despite her circumstances, she brings her children to school everyday and does everything she can to support her family. Your assistance will help ease her mind from worrying about where they will sleep while they are waiting for a permanent place to stay.

A 14 year old youth was kicked out his mother’s boyfriend's home and ultimately packed up a few belongings and showed up at the DCFS office on Broadway asking for help. He was in shelter care briefly and was just placed at his friend’s mother’s home in South Central LA. The child does not have many belongings other than a few pieces of clothing. He has been through so much adversity and remains resilient. We’d really appreciate if someone can bless this child with a backpack, school supplies, basically a starter pack for school since he doesn’t have anything.

Caregiver/NMD is in need of a gas range stove. Caregiver has not been able to use the oven due to the oven not in working condition. Caregiver has started back working and is in of assistance with getting a stove. Furthermore, caregiver is committed to providing the child with a permanent home and is going through the adoption process for the child. During my work with caregiver I have identified the following strengths: caring, loving towards the child and is dedicated to adopting the child. The caregiver goal is adoption. For these reasons, I am advocating for caregiver to have the need identified met. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is that it will help the caregiver provide healthy baked meals for the family. This need is critical to ensuring that the caregiver would be able to cook healthy meals for the child. DCFS has assisted the family by providing resources to the family. DCFS will continue to link the family to community services such as food banks, counseling, etc. in order to ensure the permanency for adoption. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately, DCFS does not provide this item, or DCFS will provide the item but the timeframe DCFS takes would be too long as some requests take up to 8 – 10 weeks, or the case does not meet criteria for the various DCFS funding options. The estimated cost of the need/s being requested is $720.00.
Unlicensed foster family home is infested with roaches.
We are looking for help with paying for treatment for this home, therefore this family not only can live in an environment without roaches, but be able to be licenses, therefore a child that has been removed can maintain living with them.
The family has tried to handle the issue themselves, but hasn't been able to take care of the situation at hand. I do believe a professional to go in to handle the situation. The family did state at one point they was using Orkin, but I do believe due to funding they weren't able to keep the services.
Estimated a single treatment at most places is $100.00-$400.00. Updated on January 26, 2023 by an Agency Worker Update information: The family has a previous balance with Orkin of $189. She stated first service would be $115 and then $65 every month.
Hello! I have a older foster youth, age 19, who is getting ready to have a baby the first of February. She lives in a Independent Living Arrangement with her boyfriend. She and her boyfriend both are working but once the baby is born she will not have any income coming in to help meet their financial needs. They recently moved from a temporary place to a more stable environment for them to bring their baby home to but this took most if not all their money to secure housing. Her boyfriend continues to work however he has been sick and has missed a significant amount of work. They are needing help with rent for February and utilities so they do not run the risk of being homeless with a newborn. This youth does plan on returning to working after 6 to 8 weeks after the birth but she does not have any money saved to use while she is on maternity leave. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Single disabled mom. New baby 5 months old. Just received shut off notice for Atmos energy. She needs 366.00 paid to avoid shut off. She is on a fixed budget and is just learning how to care for her daughter. If this bill is paid a lot of stress will be moved from her shoulders. If the helpful church will contact this worker i have a copy of the bill so it may be paid directly to Atmos.
Thank you and be blessed.
