We have families who are homeless and moms arrange for kids to stay with someone else to get back and forth from school on time. We have an immediate request: for 2 pair of uniform pants for a girl size 7/8 in black or navy and 2 uniform polo shirts in size 7/8 in black or navy.
The family just moved to this home a couple of months ago and the beds they had were destroyed in the moving process and became unusable for the kids. The two oldest boys in the family are using their mom and dads mattress to sleep on while mom and dad sleep on an air mattress on the living room floor. The youngest boy is sleeping on a very small mattress in his room. They are struggling to find any beds that they can even begin to be able to afford and are not affiliated with any churches in the area that they could ask for help and their limited family are unable to help either. This would be very beneficial to the family . .
A mother with 2 children was recently kicked out of her apartment by the children's father who was the primary financial source. Both the mother and the children have to reside with a family friend due to him kicking them all out. Mom still has stable transportation but owes $187 by this Thursday the 5th. If she does not pay that by this Thursday then the car will be taken from her, leaving her with no way to get to and from work. If she can maintain her car it will not only allow her to get to work, but it will allow her to get her children and the children whos family she is staying with, to and from school. This help would alleviate a lot of stress for this family! Thank you so much for considering!
The family was involved in an apartment fir which destroyed their living space and took all of their belongings. They are living at a temporary residence and will need to relocate as soon as they have found new permanent housing. They are in need of beds for the children, fall/ winter clothing and any other essential items that can be replaced.
Single mother of 3 children, 2 boys ages 2 and 3 and a girl age 10 months are in need of assistance with clothing, electric and water bill. Father has left and mother was left to support the children on her own. Mother has obtained full time employment as of last month and can maintain all bills once she has been caught up. Father has taken all belongings and mother has started over again on her own. Duke bill is 450.00, water bill is 250.00 and clothing for the children is needed for male, size 4T and 2T and female clothing size 18 months.
***Electric Disconnect Notice*** Family of 8 needs some assistance in paying for their current Duke bill. This is a married couple with 6 little girls in the home. The father is the family provider, but as a roofer, he unfortunately doesn't always make consistent income every month. Mom stays at home- as her oldest is only in 3rd grade and youngest is 11 months. She also has 2 children with special needs she cares for. They now have a Duke bill they are having trouble paying for- They must pay $324.17 in order to avoid disconnection that is scheduled for 10/10. Please consider helping to fund this payment for this family so that they can stay safe and healthy with electric in the home! Thank you for your consideration!
A devoted sister took custody of her two young siblings, ages 7 and 8, after their father passed away. The caregiver has three children of her own as well. They live in a small apartment on a very modest income. The family’s electric dryer is broken and a repair company came out and said it would cost $200 to fix it, but the caregiver doesn’t have the funds for this extra expense. Also, she really could use some dishes, pots and pans, and long dark curtains for four windows. Any help with these needs would be greatly appreciated!
A mother recently had a baby and she has all the necessary items except for a stroller and a baby swing. Her boyfriend does work full time to be able to meet the babies emergent needs. Parent's have been sober for 1 year and are trying very hard to maintain this baby in their home. Mother is asking for a baby swing and stroller. She will gladly take used items.

Grandmother struggling to pay her water bill for this month. She is raising her 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on her own. She is wheelchair-bound after having a stroke and losing feeling on her left side. This makes it impossible for her to work and now relies on assistance to pay her bills. Please consider helping her!
This family is in need to help pay off a Duke Energy Bill of $600. The dad works for cash and mom does not, at least four school aged kids. Not HEAP eligible due to no SSN cards, so they really need assistance. Mom said if we have a clean slate we can better manage going forward. They couldn't meet the minimum Duke payment plan so are not eligible for that again either. The power being on for refrigerator and heating are basic things that are extremely important. Any assistance is going to benefit this family. A great opportunity for a faith based entity to bond with this family as well.

Single mother with a middle school aged daughter looking for some assistance to cover the cost of her daughter's school field trip to the nation's capital. Mother did apply for an assistance program through the school to help cover the cost and was approved, but later was told that the field trip was no longer a covered expense. Father of the child is not in the home and is having severe health issues and may be placed on long term medical leave that will prohibit his ability to work. Mother does work long hours and is supporting herself and her daughter but is not able to cover the added cost of the 4 day field trip. Mother did manage to pull together the funds to submit the nonrefundable deposit of $139 in order to secure the spot for her daughter, but she is uncertain if she will be able to come up with the additional disposable income for the rest of the trip cost.
Daughter is very excited to go on the trip and to have this experience with her friends and peers. It would mean a lot to the mother to have her daughter be able to have this memorable experience with her peers and not have to witness her daughter being left out due to mom's lack of resources and financial barriers.
Single mother of 5 is currently in college and watching her 2 year old, therefore is not working at the moment. Mom starts a new job beginning of October, but the family currently has a disconnect notice for their electric bill. Mom has paid over $400.00 down on the bill herself, but they still owe $378.00. Please consider helping this single mom, she is working hard on her bachelors degree online and has found a new job starting soon, but could greatly use the extra help.
URGENT NEED!! Father recently took in his youngest 2 toddler children due to an emergency that occurred with a relative who had then. Father did not want them to go into foster care, and therefore offered to maintain the children in his home with him and his son he already had in the home. Due to the urgent need for the children to be placed with him father needs some urgent assistance getting the children some items they need. Father is in need of bunk beds for the children, as well as a car seat. Father is also in need of assistance paying a utility bill, as he has been putting the needs of his children first. Paying for all the items needed to care for two young toddler children unexpectedly has put him behind on his electric bill. Father has worked very hard to make sure the children can stay in his home, and do not have to go into foster care. Father’s case plan includes paying bills to maintain housing, and provide for his children. Father wants to remain compliant with case plan, and keep his children in his home. Father is in need of assistance to ensure his children can stay with him and help this family stay reunited, as the children are well bonded with their father. Please help this motivated single father keep his children from entering the foster care system, and keep the children in their home.
A single mom with two students is working part-time and is a nursing student. She has gotten behind on her Duke bill and needs help. She has been able to pay down her bill from $566 to $177 but now has nothing left until she gets paid again on 10/6. She needs help paying off the last bit of her bill in order to not get a disconnection and needs a gas card to get to and from work this week.
This request is to support a mother whom is caring for her 4 children. Her youngest is 7 and due to a variety of issues a birth certificate had never been generated for her. Mother has worked with numerous entities including the hospital, vital statistics and even at the state level. The application from the state has now been sent to probate court. Mother is needing assistance in covering the $100 fee to keep the process moving. Due to not having a birth certificate the child has not been able to enroll in school and is significantly behind. The agency is working diligently with mother to obtain the birth certificate so that this child can be enrolled, and mother may maintain custody. Mother works full time as an aid at a nursing home, but due to not yet receiving benefits she does not have any disposable income to allot for the $100 fee.
A single mom of 3 children has fallen behind on rent. She is a hard-worker, but she had to take shifts off due to one of her children being hospitalized. Mom is contributing over half of rent herself, but needs help to make up the rest. Please consider helping this family get back on their feet.
Maternal Grandmother has been caring for her two grandchildren since May 2023 due to safety concerns in their mother's home. The agency has been attempting to complete a kinship assessment on grandmother's home, however, a safety issue was identified regarding a missing bannister on the second floor hallway/stairwell to prevent children from falling down the stairs. A bannister is needing installed in order to support the approval of this home for the children to remain there and prevent them from having to be removed and potentially placed in foster care. Grandmother has the bannister but does not have the capability of installing it herself. Grandmother owns the home.
(only potential anticipated costs may be fasteners/screws or any other mounting materials identified)
We've been working with a single dad of four children (ages 9, 7, 4 and 5 months). We have helped him apply for childcare vouchers so that he can go back to work after getting custody of his youngest. We recently learned that the family has lice. Dad has treated them at home but needs professional lice treatment to get this under control quickly so that the children can go to daycare. Dad could also use help with groceries while we wait for his approval for SNAP benefits. We have been able to secure funding to help with rent for a couple of months. These last couple of resources will change the entire trajectory for this family.
