The family has a plan to get themselves in a position to be stable but needs this assistance to make their plan happen. They get paid on the 1st of the month and have a plan to get stable housing and a cheap car with this money. If this family can make it until December 1st in the hotel they will be able to get a car and stable housing.

A 17-year-old girl, eldest of her family, expressed feeling frustrated because her car needs repair. At 17, there are a lot of things she is buying for her senior year that she needs money for (college applications, basketball shoes, fees on her school account, senior pictures, etc) but without a car she is hardly able to work as she has no way to get there. She lives in a single parent household with four siblings and helps mom with running errands and taking kids to and from school. This young woman is a A+ student and is very involved in her community. She said it would be a little over $250 to fix her car but any assistance would help tremendously.

A single mother of four is needing some assistance to help children. She is not working at this time due to the cost of daycare and has three children that are not yet in school and one being an infant. She has utilized her older car seat from her other children for the infant, but she is asking for assistance with a newer car seat that will transition as the child ages and the baby is currently about 4 1/2 months old but bigger than the average child at that age. In the request the toddler/convertible car seat was chosen as mom would like one that transitions but want to again point out that kiddo is still an infant so chose the most accurate for description purposes. She also would like to get a pack 'n play for her baby with a fitted sheet. She does not want a crib and has specifically asked for a pack 'n play only. In addition to that, the mom could also use some help with clothing for all of the children. There is a boy who is 6 years old and would wear size 7 or 8, medium, two girls ages 3 and 4 and similar in size so sizes 4 and 5 would be fine for both. The 4 1/2 month could benefit from clothing sizes 6 months and above. All of this will help keep the kiddos safe, warm, and ready for the ever-changing weather and help alleviate some of the financial stress on the mom. Thanks!

Single mom pregnant with her first child is needing help with paying past due rent in the amount of $1211.00. This client was working but lost her job due to having to take off from work for doctor appointments because of pregnancy complications. She was also hurt on the job due to an accident that happened that was not her fault and is currently in litigation for that. She has already been to several organizations in the Kansas City area for help, but each one is either out of funding at this time, not accepting applications at this time or are overwhelmed with applications and are not taking any more at this time. The client has been looking for another job and is hopeful she will start work soon. In the meantime, the client has just been approved for unemployment and receives a monthly check of $796.00 for blind disability (She's legally blind in one eye) that she can use to pay future rent until she starts work. Because of the amount of the request, I have broken it into 2 payments of 605.00 in hopes that some churches would like to partner together to meet this need. This will help the client from being served an eviction notice keeping her from homelessness as she prepares for the arrival of her baby in a few months.

A working single mother of two, who's a client of our agency, desperately needs to purchase a reliable used car. She had a car, but it needs repairs that she can't afford and that cost more than the car is worth. She can put down as much as $1,500 but needs her monthly payment to be between $200 and $300. Her credit is not good because her ex-husband racked up some debts, then disappeared and literally left her holding the bag. Looking for resources who can help her find a reliable car ASAP. She needs to purchase it within a week.

Single mother of three needs help with her phone and internet. Mother is escaping her neighborhood and abuser and needs to maintain her phone and internet so she can work her at home job so she can keep her children with her. Children all have severe behavioral issues. The new environment would allow them to get more regular treatment. Mother has gotten behind on her bills due to children's severe behavior. Ms. Draudt is currently set to move to Lee's Summit this week (11/06/2023). She is able to maintain her provider at her new address but needs to pay back her past due bills.

Foster child suffering from significant childhood trauma acted out and destroyed foster dad's home. Foster dad is willing to keep child and work with him but is in need of assistance to repair the damages done. He has priced two new doors which would be around $500, give or take. Floor is damaged as well, which has been priced around $375. Please help preserve this foster placement.

Four older youth siblings entered care due to physical and sexual abuse. They were placed with their older brother and his fiancé. They recently moved into a bigger house to accommodate all of the children and are in need of some furniture.

I work with a family who has a child with complex medical needs. The 4 boys were on 2 bunk beds, but both of the bunk beds have broken and are not safe for all 4 boys to sleep. Therefore, currently 2 of the boys are sleeping on the floor. The single mother is asking for assistance purchasing 2 new bunk bed sets. The ones she had were wood and she believes metal would be a better fit for their needs. I saw several twin over twin metal bunk beds for around $150 each.

This child/family is in need of financial assistance in funding the child’s tuition. The father shares that once he’s caught up on the past due tuition for the child, he’ll maintain the weekly cost as he recently started a new job. This child is not only missing school, but he’s missing out on his daily learning opportunities & his social interactions with his friends. The child has continued sharing his wishes to return to school. Once the tuition is paid in full, the child is unable to return, leaving dad at risk of unemployment. Please consider helping this family! Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Mother and father had twins 4 months ago that were born extremely premature. Unfortunately, the parents experienced the loss of patient’s twin sibling shortly after birth. Their only child remains admitted to the hospital, where she has been since birth while she continues to work on breathing and feeding needs. It is not only difficult to have a newborn admitted to the hospital, but to have another one of your children not survive is unfathomable. This experience has caused even additional hardship for this family. Parents work in the helping profession, so finances have been tight. Both parents returned to work, but due to the stress of the situation mother has had to take some time off work to ensure she is able to be the best parent she can be when baby comes home. Once baby comes home, mother would like to take an additional 6 weeks off work so she can bond and have a true maternity leave experience. This will be unpaid leave for her. While mother is at home for those 6 weeks, they are at risk of not having enough money to cover their rent. As such, parents would benefit from having the help of at least $1000, which will help cover 2 months’ rent so mother can spend some time at home bonding. If family can’t get help, mother will have to continue working when patient first comes home, which is heart wrenching for any new parent. Any help would be great to help family out and I know they will be truly appreciated by them.

A single mom with two children who is on disability due to the fact that she has shunts in her brain and will be having her 9th brain surgery soon. She cannot work due to this. They are in need of 1 full-size and 1 twin-size mattress AND bed frames. They also need some bedding for these beds.
