Two parents have turned the garage into a living space in the back of Grandpa's home. They do have two space heaters already but they need at least two more to actually feel some heat. They have one huge one facing the kids beds and one tiny one facing theirs. Children are allowed to go in the home but to make it more comfortable they said they would be open to one or two more space heaters.
Help with the weather conditions going on outside and feel more comfortable in their temporary living space. They can take the heaters to the shed they will be getting soon.

We spoke with a boy in 6th grade today who had holes in his shoes and said his mom bought him a new pair but they were too small. He shared that he doesn't want Walmart shoes, because he gets bullied and made fun of. The family is struggling financially, but having a brand new pair of Nike's (size 10.5) would help this student's self worth and self esteem according to several of his teachers. He just requested any color but white because of having to wear them outdoors. The boy has an older brother with severe behavioral issues and we are trying to lessen the burden on the parents and help this boy feel included.

A Park Hill family needs help getting their car repaired. They recently fled from a pretty violent situation, and to make matters worse, mom's car now is broken. In order to have reliable transportation, she has been using the car owned by the person the family fled from. She is working very hard to get her and her children's life back on track, and to get enough money to pay for repairs so she can give the car back and then break all remaining ties with the violent situation. Mom is worried that if she has to wait for her car back much longer, she will find herself right back in the violence again.

This family consists of a sweet single mother and 4 children. The mother also has 2 other children who live with their father. Last year, the mother experienced several health issues and lost her full-time job. The family could no longer afford their own housing, which led to their becoming doubled up with first an aunt in Liberty and then a grandmother in Independence. Finding affordable housing has very been difficult, even with a housing voucher. The mom finally found a small house to rent in Independence. She is starting over with furnishing her home. She had furniture and other items in storage, but she could no longer pay the storage fees. Updated on February 03, 2023 by an Agency Worker I requested beds for the children from Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

A single mother who's husband was deported this year is trying to put life back together for herself and her daughter. This mother is a reliable employer at her job and is doing what she can to keep going thru the tragedy. This mother is working through several concerns which she used to rely on her husband for. This mother's car broke down and has been parked at their home. The mother thinks she knows what is wrong but does not know how to fix. Meanwhile DCCCA services were requested and a family member provided the mother with their truck to drive. This mother has contacted worker to say that the truck is now making a noise and she doesn't know what to do. This worker is looking for donor who can diagnose and possibly repair this family's vehicle. DCCCA worker can provide address and phone number to speak with client as needed to arrange diagnosis. Thank you for considering.
Today the mother in need was reunified with her 2 year old baby girl. Due to being released from care, the services for this family have been discontinued. While the child was in care she received Medicaid and daycare. The mother was unable to apply her daughter into these programs until she was released from Children's Division's care and jurisdiction.
The mother has a written test at school and orientation for new employment this upcoming week. She is unable to take the child to a new childcare facility at which she found close to her new job, until her daycare application has been processed. The mother is asking that someone help her pay for the $75 enrollment fee and a for a few weeks of childcare while she awaits approval for her food stamp, Medicaid and child care application from the state of Missouri. The mother is in transitional living and rides the bus to and from one location to the next. This mother is very determined to be the best mother she can be.

Single father has been given custody of his son and has been living with family member during transition. Father has identified a income based housing apartment complex that meets the needs of the father and son financially. The father is working full time while working low paying job for a reliable company. DCCCA is working with this father to remove housing and transportation barriers while he also works with the school and other supports to get son help he needs. This father has applied to a apartment complex and is in need of $200 deposit to submit application. This father has spoken to the apartment complex and they have apartment available. Father was asked to submit application and fee to process application. Thank you for considering as we look for ways to help this father be less dependent on others.
A family has been staying in hotel due to a house fire recently. They will be in the hotel until roughly March 1st. They had to choose the cheapest hotel room, therefore, they do not have a fridge for their food. They have been using a cooler but the ice melts quickly, resulting in their food becoming spoiled. I am requesting a mini fridge for the family during their extended hotel stay. I would estimate this to be roughly $100.
Also, I know this is a huge ask, but they are also having issues with their car, causing major barriers. The family is not 100% sure what is wrong with the car, but they are needing a mechanic to look at this to see what the needed repair would be. I am not quite sure what the cost of the repair would be, but I would estimate anywhere from $100-$300.

A single mom is trying to raise 4 children while also taking care of her mother in the home that has a cancer diagnosis. Mom has gotten behind on bills and is at risk of having her phone immediately disconnected, as all of her money is going towards other bills and the needs of her children and their sick grandmother. We are asking for help in paying this bill so that mom has a way to stay connected with service providers for her children and mother and the children's schools. I have the phone bill to provide donors to pay directly. Thank you for considering this family.
I have a mom and stepdad who were kicked out of their home on 1/31/23, along with their two kids ages 3 and 4. They are currently staying at the Salvation Army; they are able to stay there for 30 days. Mom stated the staff is helping them find housing. They were not able to take a lot of their belongings and mom reported she is in desperate need of clothes for the two boys and work pants for her. They also need food (anything microwaveable since they don't have a stove right now). The boys need clothes sizes 3-4t and 4-5t. Shoes size 8 and 9. Mom needs black pants size 12 or 13.

I am helping a young single mother of a 4-month-old become independent of her family. She and her child were living with her parents unfortunately the situation became unsafe, and she moved rather hastily. She was recently approved for housing and has moved into her new home. However, she learned that since the unit she was provided has a washer and dryer hookup, she is not able to utilize the washing facilities in the complex. The mother is also without transportation, so it has been difficult for her to clean her child's linen and clothing. She is learning to use public and medical transportation but does not have a stroller making it difficult for her to get around with her baby. The addition of these items will help mom feel more confident in her ability to care for her daughter and increase her ability to make meaningful improvements to their life. Used items are perfectly fine and much appreciated. She does not have transportation, but the grandfather of her baby is able to help get the items into the home. The home is a townhome with two staircases that she will need gates for, she has 1 -but will need at least 1 additional one as her daughter becomes more mobile. Thank you so much for considering all or part of this request. Please contact me if you have any questions or need any additional information.
