Description of Request: This is a single mother, who has endured financial hardship in the past several months. Her adult children have vacated the home and did not contribute to the household expenses. The mother has a full-time job as well as is attending dental assistant school to better her financial situation. She is in need of support to catch her up with her bills. The mother was involved in an auto accident last month and is having to deal with unexpected expenses related to this. Her minor child is negatively impacted by all that he is witnessing his mother endure. Paying her water bill would be a great support for her and her son, with one less thing to worry about.

These circumstances have mom working two jobs and she’s unable to spend quality time with her daughters. If mom was able to have her past-due lot rent balance (approx. $500), she and kids would be in a safe living environment and not homeless. A request is being made on behalf of a grandmother who has moved from Tennessee to Florida to care for her granddaughter. The child was removed from her parents in Florida due to substance misuse. The caregiver is still paying for her primary residence in Tennessee, as that is where she is insured and is planning to receive medical treatment. Due to having to maintain two residences, the grandmother is struggling financially and is behind on rent and utility bills in Florida. The caregiver recently moved into a mobile home in Florida that was her son's residence, solely to care for her granddaughter while the biological parents work their case plan. In doing so, her granddaughter was able to be kept out of the foster care system. The caregiver cannot work due to having a serious medical condition and taking care of her granddaughter. A request is being made for a total of $1,500; the grandmother is $1,100 behind on rent and behind $400 on her electric bill. This placement supports the concept of kinship in our community. In fulfilling this request, the grandmother will be able to stabilize her housing situation in Florida to maintain placement of her granddaughter.
