Help Strengthen a Bio Family
Mom was referred to Safe families for help to establish her first home on her own with her two young children. She does not have any OCS involvement and has been involved in Young Lives. She and her children left an unsafe situation where all of their possessions, besides a suitcase filled with basic clothing, were ruined. She is in need of beds and bathroom necessities, including a shower curtain as well as diapers and pull-ups for her kids. Her apartment is completely empty and so she is seeking a bed for her son and is hopeful to get a bed for herself and has been working hard on getting this taken care of. She has no toys, or furniture or appliances or cleaning supplies and is very low on food items. She does have a vehicle where she could pick up smaller items, but if furniture and bigger items could be delivered that would be a huge blessing. The kids both wear 2T sizes. Her son wears size 2T pullups and her daughter wears size 5 diapers.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
I am very excited to introduce you to this amazing family. They are relatives living in an apartment in Anchorage. They were a family of 6; they have 4 children, 3 boys and one girl. This month they brought in 8 additional nephews and nieces into their home. Two boys are currently reunited and living with their father. This family has doubled in size. There are 10 children in this home ranging from ages 2-17.
In speaking with the mother, she stressed that eating meals together was very important. Her protein choices are chicken, ground beef (meat balls) and eggs. The children are healthy eaters and Do Not have any known food allergies. For starch, they like rice and they have no preference over wheat or white bread. Most of their vegetables are canned or fresh.
A typical breakfast for the family consists of cereal, frozen waffles, and pancakes. They really like Krusteaz pancake mix.
The children are not fussy about what they drink. She focuses on milk, water and juice.
I asked about spices, and she shared that she uses vegetable oil for frying chicken. Soy sauce, curry and Yoshida are all staples in their kitchen.
With such a large household, they usually shop at Costco and Walmart.
