An 18-year-old male in a two-parent household is needing the community's assistance in obtaining groceries for their home. This older youth has had an incident of racoons falling through his ceiling in his room of their apartment home. Due to this incident, the family is re-locating to another apartment advised by their landlord but is needing support in obtaining groceries while the family replaces their son's belongings that were contaminated by the racoons. Any help would greatly benefit this family. The 18-year-old has just graduated from High School and is actively participating in the employee council to obtain employment, on top of applying to nearby areas.

I have a family that was put in a difficult situation and the grandmother agreed to care for the children until mom did everything she needed to do. The grandmother is currently fighting cancer, keeping the children together and recently had to find a new home for everyone due to a unfair situation completely out of her control. Fortunately they have just moved into their new home and need a little help due to a limited financial situation. Currently the 3 children all need twin size bedding for each of their beds and each child is in need of a dresser to store their clothing. This assistance would relive the grandmother of the stress of having to find a way to afford these items. Mom of 2 lost her 18 year old son to homicide on 5/22/24. Mom has a full time job however due to the circumstances, has been out of work since the incident. Mom is prioritizing putting her son to rest and is currently paying for the funeral which is close to $8,000. Mom is concerned she will get behind on rent due to the funeral costs and being out of work. Currently KCMO does not have organizations that assist with funeral funds, so it will be out of pocket for her. Mom is seeking rental assistance for the month of June. Her current rent amount is $1340 and has around $300 to go towards her rent payment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two pre-teen siblings are seeking funding to participate in recreational activities during their sibling visitation time. These children are currently wards of the state following the termination of parental rights and do not have parental involvement. Support is requested to help provide them with opportunities for connection and enjoyment through community-based activities such as AMC movie passes, bowling, laser tag, escape rooms, go-kart racing, worlds of fun, and similar outings. Support can be provided in the form of a gift card or actual ticket passes. This worker is willing to accept the gift cards/passes on behave of the children.

A 12-year-old child is placed in a Department of Mental Health home to meet her needs as she has several diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder. This child has a history of causing damage to her mattress, boxspring, and bedframe; most recently she has torn her mattress apart, making it impossible to sleep in. A single mother lost hours at her job which has forced her to begin looking for a new job. This resulted in her not having enough money for her rent. She is facing eviction if she cannot come up with the $500 needed for the rest of her rent this month. She has tried several community agencies on her own with no luck in getting help for her rent.

A mother and her child, who have recently triumphed over significant domestic violence challenges, are seeking assistance with transportation to attend medical appointments and access domestic violence services. With a limited income, especially after losing a primary source of support from her ex-boyfriend who is no longer permitted to contact the family due to safety concerns this mother is in a difficult situation. We are hopeful to secure a Quick Trip gas card by tomorrow morning during the TDM, which would greatly alleviate their transportation expenses and support their journey toward healing and stability.

A mother whom currently resides in Clay county has lost custody of her children and they are currently in Children's Division care and custody. The mother was residing with the father in their home; however, one day he never returned from "work" and had taken their only working vehicle, most of the money in their accounts, the mother's methadone, and left the mother in the home with past due bills. The mother could greatly benefit from assistance with paying her past due bills so that she can at least have another month or so in her home until a better situation is located for her. The home is way past due on mortgage, I believe she stated 3 payments are past due and we are worried about the home being foreclosed on and mom becoming homeless because of this.

Placement provider has moved to a new location so she can have enough room for all 4 children. She is needing to have an old gas bill changed before they will take it out of the landlord's name.

Due to recent financial hardships, including an emergency surgery for dad and faulty transmission in the family vehicle, the family is unable to pay mortgage for this upcoming month and is at risk. Family is seeking assistance for this month in order to maintain stability. The family has therapeutic support services to help them navigate this time and we are hopeful you can help provide this gift to support them in the most important way- maintaining the safety of their home. The father of a family of five suddenly passed away without any life insurance. The family is not only mourning this profound loss but also finds itself in a financial crisis. In addition to funeral expenses, their one working vehicle is experiencing electrical issues and cannot be used until it is repaired. They also need to replace their oven.
