I have a family that I have been working with who is currently staying at a motel. Both parents are working, and they have been approved for an apartment. The apartment is not available until 08/01/2025. We are asking to see if we can help this family out with their stay at the hotel so they can save money for their deposit. Once this need is met, the family will be able to move them and their two children into their new apartment where the children will have their own rooms to feel safe and comfortable in.

The family have been through a nightmare with the issues. There was a serious situation which caused the family to have to be chaperoned at all times by several other people who were not living in the home naturally. Since this resolution, and no fault of the family, they incurred and are now receiving many additional expenses which they have paid most of. There were costs for one of the parents to be in a hotel, in additional to 2 other adults in their home for over 5 weeks costing more in the way of supplies, utilities and daily living needs as the parents could not transport or be alone with the kids. All the support people are gone, and they have exhausted the savings for this issue, they need help with the final $350.00 for the water bill (of which we have a copy) and then they will get back on track and can get things closed out with Children's Division. They are appreciating in advance of any help they can get.

There is a youth that would like to achieve his GED and his previous online program expired. He is on track to be the first youth in Wyandotte County to achieve permanency through SOUL. Unfortunately, he will not be eligible for SOUL subsidy unless he is enrolled in a GED program. The course is $170 for 180 days.

The father on this case has no form of transportation and is needing assistance getting to TestSmartly/ESA for drug tests, as well as the Children's Division office for visits with his children. The father has not been able to see his kids since they entered care 10 months ago.

This request is to help a family in need with a Temporary Alternative Placement Agreement. The parents are working on various items to improve themselves and to make themselves and their home a safe place for the child to return home to. The extended family that is placement for the child currently are sturggling financially to make ends meet. Currently they are in need of gas cards to help keep gas in the car to get the child to daycare. Without this aid they will have to miss more shifts at work and without work they will not be able to keep the child with them.

By helping with this request you are directly helping keep a child out of court custody and out of the foster system.

This family is reintegrating three children into the home. The oldest of these children has a history of eloping from the home while the parents are away at work or in bed sleeping. This has led to her putting herself and her younger siblings in dangerous situations. The parents have to work, and this will help to ensure safety. The purchase of 4 outside ring cameras will help provide secure surroundings for the children and help the parents supervise the oldest child more effectively. Please help preserve the placement of two very busy children with their grandparents by providing the children the ability to attend YMCA day camp for the next 4 weeks until school begins. The children attended summer school, but it has now ended resulting in the children having limited peer interaction and increased fighting in the home. Their grandfather just had an extended stay in the hospital and is still recovering which has made it very difficult for grandparents to plan and participate in activities with the kids. A consistent routine is crucial to keeping the children stable and safe between now and the start of the school year.

A person is in the process of adopting a young boy who has gone through a lot and now has many medical needs. The person adopting him stays at home with him to provide the love, care, and attention he needs and deserves. The family is hoping to increase the security of the home due to some threats made and would like to install some security cameras. If there is someone who is able to donate a camera or two or a whole camera system, that would be so helpful in increasing the family's peace of mind. A family is needing help securing a door on the side of their house. The door is meant to have a barricade, however, one of the brackets for the barricade has broken off, and therefore, the door cannot properly lock. The objects stored in that room are at risk and the rest of the home is less secure. The family is hoping for a new lock or barricade bracket to secure the door. This youth has been working diligently to prepare for aging out of care. Throughout this process, he has faced numerous challenges and setbacks, yet he continues to persevere as he takes meaningful steps toward independence. Despite his best efforts, unforeseen circumstances have caused delays in his transition, including pushing back his planned age-out date. He has been actively searching for housing, securing an apartment, and covering the associated fees on his own.

At this time, he is in need of a grocery gift card to help cover food expenses for his first month on his own. Providing this support would relieve a significant financial burden and allow him to focus on building a stable foundation. By easing the immediate stress of affording food, we can help ensure a more successful and confident start to this important new chapter in his life.

The household has been experiencing some recent issues with being overcharged on their water and electric bill. They are working with a caseworker to get that rectified currently. However, they are currently short on money for expenses like gas. They requested help with acquiring gas cards. Family has worked with a Careportal provider previously.

Clay County Children's Division tries to keep a clothing items in various sizes in our supply room for when kids first enter custody. These items are to assist the kids with clothing for 1 to 2 days while the initial clothing voucher is filled by the placement providers. We are running low on summer items in the following sizes. We would appreciate t-shirts, shorts, pjs, in the sizes listed below. These times can be new or used as long as there are no holes or stains. We are also needing a few bottles of baby wash.
