A Teller County family is in need of food assistance. This kinship family recently came together in hopes of providing a home for a child in need so the child would remain with familiar faces versus go into an unknown situation in foster care. The family is able to manage their finances normally, however, groceries are starting to become an urgent matter. This Kinship home said "YES" when others walked away from this child; stretching their already elastic budget to the brink of breaking. We are gently asking our community to come together to provide food in a way so that this family will not need to worry where the next meal will come from, how they will make a meal last, or who will have the biggest portion to fill a belly. Let's come together to support a family who said "yes". We are grateful for help in any amount, and are asking for Wal-Mart or Visa gift cards so the family can shop for their own grocery needs. A Teller County family could use a blessing! This family is comprised of a mother, father, a 4-year old girl, and a 2-year old girl. Both parents are employed, but still struggle with food insecurity. Unfortunately, as of earlier this year, they no longer meet the guidelines for economic assistance. While the Department has assisted with providing local resources and the parents are utilizing some food pantries, the need this month is simply too great. Therefore, the Department is respectfully asking if any Care Portal partners can help bridge the gap at this time with Wal-Mart gift cards so that they family can purchase much need supplies. This is a family of two kinship caregivers and their three grandkids (4, 7, and 9). The grandparents also care for two other grandchildren outside of DHS care, so they have their hands full (and their hearts as well!). Finances are tights, and the kids are growing quickly. They could benefit from a Walmart gift card in any amount for clothing and groceries.

A single dad needs help paying for his rent where his 7 year old daughter and him reside. Father was just reunited with his daughter after a year and soon after reunification he had to have an emergency medical surgery and his company let him go due to missing some work. He started a new job already but is falling short on rent and just needs some help to get back on his feet and be the father he has been working so hard to be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A single mother urgently needs a functional phone for her child to ensure effective communication with the support team, visitation center, as well as to stay connected during family engagement sessions. As she cannot afford this necessity, securing a used unlocked phone or a new one with a phone card would significantly ease her challenges. This would help maintain essential connections, coordinate medical updates, and schedule appointments, contributing to the child’s safety, emotional stability, and overall well-being. A single father is working diligently to regain custody of his 9-month-old daughter after his wife passed away. He fully engages in all required services and makes remarkable progress toward reunification. However, he needs support to meet his daughter's basic needs. He is seeking assistance with items such as a crib, stroller, or a grocery gift card. Any financial assistance or contributions toward these needs would help him stay focused on his case and continue building a stable future for his family. DHS is holding our annual appreciation event for our Kinship, Foster, and Adoptive families on Saturday, June 28th, and are requesting a gift card to Walmart for 50-100$ in order to purchase table cloths for the event. Any help will be appreciated in order to thank these families that serve our community and the many children in need of our services.

MOC is requesting financial assistance for her son to attend summer camp over the summer. MOC would like the youth to attend to help build his social skills and to keep him physically active over the summer. The cost to attend a week long of camp is 255$/week plus a 165$ fist time registration/supply fee. The camp is through the Adventure Club, Creative Play Centers Inc., in Colorado Springs. The tuition fees are due in advance and a two day per week minimum is required to attend. I have attached the tuition sheet to this request. This would benefit the household by allowing the youth to attend camp activities, make friends with other youth his age and keep him active and engaged over the summer.

A mother and father of three (boys 6 and 4, girl 2) cannot keep their phones on and therefore cannot stay in touch with their treatment providers and are unable to communicate with their family time supervisor. This is impacting their ability to find better work, stay engaged with their children, and work towards reunification. A $50 phone card for each parent would be so helpful to these parents and help them stay on top of changing schedules and reunite their family. Thank you for your generosity!
