Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
A young adult on my caseload recently moved into her own studio. She works full time, but is struggling to purchase essential items for her household. Items the youth needs are: An electric griddle, Electric Portable Dual Coil Burner, a blender, a magic bullet juicer/blending juicer, smoothie maker. These items would help youth acclimate to her new apartment and quickly feel at home.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
A mother and her two children are currently residing in a domestic violence shelter located in Fresno. Before entering the shelter, the family had been homeless and temporarily staying in a motel, which had been financially supported by the children's father. The children have been exposed to multiple incidents of domestic violence perpetrated by the father while they were present. Most recently, the mother and her children fled the motel after the father physically assaulted her. Law enforcement responded, and the father was arrested. Due to the urgency of the situation, the mother and her children left without any personal belongings. As a result, the mother is in urgent need of necessities, including clothing for herself and her children, gas money, and financial assistance for essential items. The mother expressed feelings of embarrassment and shame about asking for help but stated that she would be extremely grateful for any support provided at this time.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
I am currently assisting a mother who is caring for her one-year-old & newborn child. Mother has a total of 10 children & previously lost custody of 8 due to a long history of substance misuse. She began using methamphetamines at the age of 14 and experienced chronic homelessness for many years. Mother has made significant strides in turning her life around by being clean and sober for the past two years and has had no new referrals or child welfare involvement since the birth of her one-year-old in 2023. During this time, she's resided at the Navigation Center and women’s shelters while working closely w/ the CSET Housing Program. Through her hard work and commitment to stability, she recently secured permanent housing & received the keys to her new apartment in Lindsay on 5/30/2025. This is a rare and commendable case of a mother overcoming significant barriers and achieving sustained sobriety and stability. Any support provided to her would greatly contribute to her ongoing success and the well-being of her children. Because of her past housing instability, mother has very limited resources & is in urgent need of essential household items. She is seeking assistance with the following (new/used): A couch, bed for herself, dressers, a TV, sheets for the children’s beds, pillows, cleaning supplies, newborn necessities, clothing.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
I have a youth on my caseload who is currently in a relative foster care placement, who he is with his 4 siblings in care. The foster parent's home is a rental, and their AC unit has gone down for the past three weeks. It was reported that they have not addressed the AC issues due to the challenges in the home which involved one of the youth's siblings going through some episodes due to their mental health. In addition, one of the foster parents has been in recovery due to a surgery. This worker is asking for support to help the family with portable AC units to help keep the home cool during the summer.
Due to the home being a rental, I do not know if CarePortal could provide support in servicing the ac unit and if that is an option, please let me know.
Updated on June 16, 2025 by an Agency Worker
The foster parent reported that the landlord will be sending someone to check the AC unit, however, foster parent is requesting assistance in portable ac units for the mean time because they do not know how long it will take to be fixed.
Updated on June 16, 2025 by an Agency Worker
In addition, as an option, if anyone could donate to lend portable ac units until their ac unit is fixed would be greatly appreciated as well.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
We are reaching out on behalf of a young couple with an 8-month-old baby who recently moved to Tulare County. They’ve been financially stable until now, with the father working full-time to support the family. Unfortunately, he recently lost his prescription eyeglasses, which are essential due to his impaired vision. Without them, he’s unable to return to work. His employer is kindly holding his position, but the delay in returning to work has put the family in a difficult spot. They’re now struggling to cover $600 in basic monthly bills, and more urgently, they are concerned about losing their housing. Their rent is $1,500 a month, and with limited resources, they are at risk of falling behind. This father is eager to get back to work as soon as he can replace his glasses. Any support to help cover the rent or essential bills would mean the world to this young family. Your generosity can help them stay housed, stay afloat, and get back on track. Thank you for your compassion and support.

Help Make a Foster Care Placement
I am writing to respectfully request support in providing a Visa gift card for a youth currently detained at the Juvenile Detention Facility. The youth is preparing to transition directly into a new placement but does not have any clothing or personal belongings to take with them upon release. This presents a significant challenge to their ability to start this next chapter with dignity and stability.
We are specifically requesting a Visa gift card so the youth can independently purchase clothing and essential items at a store of their choice. This flexibility will not only ensure that they can access what they truly need, but also empower them with a sense of agency and normalcy during a time of significant transition.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
This request is being submitted by a Lead Social Worker with Child Welfare Services. This request is for a mother who has a history of domestic violence with the father. During the challenges of being a victim of domestic violence, the mother was working to provide for herself and the children. The mother lost her employment when she could no longer work due to approaching delivery and eventually giving birth. The mother took action steps to physically separate herself from the father to protect herself and the children and also initiated legal action to gain full custody of the child(ren) prior to Agency involvement. This request is for financial assistance for legal fees to help the mother receive legal assistance to add her new born baby to the existing custody documentation in family court. (Please note, this mother was involved in Family Law court prior to the Agency's involvement and she is not in an open case with the Agency but in an open referral.)

Help Remove an Educational Barrier for a Child
Hello everyone, I am currently working with a child (12 years old) who just graduated from the 6th grade and will be going into middle school next year. The child was placed into foster care last month and is doing great in her placement. Despite the child's personal challenges, the child is looking forward to joining the Military Academy in the fall and was accepted into their program. The child currently struggles with reading, and it was recommended that she read a lot over the summer to prepare herself for middle school. The child shared that she enjoys reading Harry Potter and would really love to have the books. I am hoping to find someone who can purchase the set of Harry Potter books for her- new or used!
