Single Grandmother caregivers Took in her grandkids (9-8-3) under DCFS detention and adopted them last year,Because parent drug addiction was stronger than love for children, She just called that her other daughter 3 children (8-5-2) wear detained for domestic abuse, CSW called and place them with her she needs 2 sets of Bunk Beds with Mattresses and Comforts and protectors and blankets, sheets and 2 Dressers, ASAP so she can pass RFA approval.

A grandmother age 68 with many health issue and battling cancer, took a grandson informally over 12 years and several years later another grandDaughter was born prenatally drug exposed DCFS Placed her with this Caregiver she adopted this granddaughter and lately her mental health and special needs have increased so much they placed her on a 3150 hold and are recommending she be placed in a residential care, she is working with adoption assistance services to get the service in the home, She has a lot of needs in the home. She is sole provider of these teens and on $700 SSI fund she does live in a low income apt and gets food stamps, and AAP funding for the Adopted Granddaughter but barely scrapes by her son helps out minimally. She has no other support. She needs desperate car repairs estimate $300.00, needs new tire and alignment estimate $700.00 and needs 2 dressers for kids

Grandfather and wife are raising 3 paternal grandchildren, his son and daughter in-law are struggling with addiction, and he took the grandchildren care before DCFS intervened, so they have no support or funding. He married his wife a few years ago, he was a single Father of 3 sons, two of his sons still live with him the work part time and study, they help out as much as they can. Grandfather lost sight of one of his eyes in a work injury a few years ago, he was on workers comp he just started receiving SSDI for the amount of $1,600.00 he is needs a new stove only two burners are working and there refrigerator is not working at all the power outage a few months ago shifted something he had it fixed 3 times but continues to not work they cannot store food. they are behind on some of their bills and have made payment arrangements. the Stove and Refrigerator are urgent need.

Grandfather caring for his grandson they are an informal Guardianship; they get no financial support. Grandfather was laid off and thing have been hard the last few months, he has not found work and his car needs new tires he got an estimate of $1000.00 and his registration is also due $286.00 just applied for his SSI it will take a month or two for outcome, meanwhile he is still going to job interview, hopefully he will find a job, he needs his care for daily arrears taking his grandson to school and medical appointments, He really can’t fill this need, Food and keeping a roof over their head takes priority his wife is working and earns minimum wage. With cost of living so high it's been a struggle on one income,

This caregiver has had a rough few years she has been battling breast cancer and other health issues,She and her husband are retired and on a tight budget,she adopted a granddaughter out of foster care around 8 yrs, she is now 23, is in college and works part time A few weeks ago they took in another grandchild age 16, he has an open case with DCFS he was removed for severe neglect and abuse,there are other siblings who are placed in other foster home for the kids. She needs to have 3 Dressers of 5 selfs to have adequate storage and needs to also replace sofas to pass inspection.

We have helped with other needs but these 4 items are still pending and they don’t have the funds.

Good evening, we have a high school student that is not able to focus in school due to the family struggle. The mother lost her job during the Wild Fires and is not working. She is the sole provider since the father is very sick and not doing well. This family is very concerned about becoming homeless, they are working on getting assistance but at this time they are on a very long waiting list for services. Hello, I am working with one of our school families with and elementary student and a middle school student. I was informed that due to the struggle of finding steady employment after the Wild Fires, they are struggling with rent funds to avoid getting evited. They do not have food or gas money to take children to school. The single parent is searching for work to get back on track. Friends have been donating food for this family but their fridge has stopped working and they don't have any where to keep milk and other items that need to be kept in the fridge. The family is in need of a toddler car seat. The care giver has requested a car seat for the 2 year old child in her care. The children in her care have special needs and the caregiver’s full time job is caring for the children. Caregiver is the sole provider for the family and has focused on providing the child’s basic needs such as food and shelter and reports it would be a financial strain to her if she purchases the car seat.

My client is a newly dedicated young mother, who recently gave birth to her newborn about a month ago and is currently residing at Mary’s Path. As she looks ahead, she is preparing to take a significant step by transitioning to her mother’s home in Lancaster. This move will allow her to continue her parenting journey in a supportive environment while pursuing a Supervised Independent Living Placement (SILP).

A wonderful family lost everything in the Eaton Canyon Fire. They left with just the clothing on their bodies. In the loss was everything that the father uses for his career as a Content Creator and Editor. He was blessed with one computer, but the loss was 3 computers, monitors, hard drives, Editing tools, and instruments. He is able to do work still, just at a much slower pace due to the lack of equipment.They were renting the house in Altadena for the last 10 years. They unfortunately did not have renters insurance, so everything that they have needed to pay for since the fires has been out of pocket. When I spoke to the father, he cared about the equipment lost, but his biggest priority is getting housing secured. Right now the four of the family members are not able to stay together until they can secure an apartment. He was able to find an apartment that he can afford monthly, but the current issue is the first/last month rent and the security deposit.

The caregiver is the maternal great grandmother who currently has placement of her 16 year old and 3 year old great grandchildren. She is 65, retired, and is in need of a deep cleaning service for her home (2 floors). Both children have extremely high needs, opposite schedules, and are both diagnosed with developmental delays and engaged many behavioral support services includeing ABA, Occupational therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech therapy, and behavioral health services weekly. The oldest child recently brought cats into the home that had 5 babies, and soiled their floors, and some furniture. Cleanliness was not a concern prior. Although the kittens have been rehomed, due to their presence, the children’s schedules, and the caregiver being a senior, the caregiver has only been able to manage spot cleaning, rather than a full cleaning and re-organizing of the home. A thorough deep cleaning and home organization would create a healthier, safer environment essential for the children’s well-being and therapy progress. This one-time support would relieve her stress, allowing her to focus fully on enriching the children’s lives and maintaining their placement in a safe, stable, nurturing home. The caregiver is also open to weekly meal drop off or ongoing support in other capacities.
